Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Consultant Oncologist to join our leading healthcare facility. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive cancer care, including diagnosis, treatment planning, and management of patients with various types of malignancies. This role requires advanced clinical expertise, strong decision-making skills, and a commitment to delivering compassionate, evidence-based oncology care through a multidisciplinary approach.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and manage patients with a wide range of solid tumors and hematological malignancies.
- Conduct comprehensive oncology assessments, including medical history reviews, physical examinations, and evaluation of diagnostic results.
- Develop personalized treatment plans based on clinical findings, pathology reports, imaging studies, and current oncology guidelines.
- Administer and monitor systemic cancer treatments, including chemotherapy, targeted therapy, immunotherapy, and hormonal therapy where appropriate.
- Manage treatment-related complications and provide supportive care throughout the cancer journey.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including surgeons, radiation oncologists, radiologists, pathologists, palliative care specialists, and oncology nurses.
- Participate in tumor board meetings and contribute to complex case discussions.
- Provide counseling and education to patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment options, prognosis, and follow-up care.
- Monitor treatment response and adjust therapeutic approaches as required.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
- Participate in clinical audits, research activities, quality improvement initiatives, and departmental meetings.
- Support and mentor junior physicians and contribute to medical education activities.
- Stay updated with advances in oncology treatments, clinical trials, and emerging therapies.
- Ensure adherence to patient safety standards, clinical protocols, and ethical medical practices.
- Medical degree (MBBS, MD, or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
- Completion of postgraduate training in Medical Oncology, Clinical Oncology, or a related specialty.
- Board Certification, Fellowship, or equivalent specialist qualification in Oncology.
- Minimum of 5 years of post-specialty clinical experience as an Oncologist.
- Strong experience in the diagnosis and management of various cancer types.
- Expertise in systemic cancer therapies, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and targeted treatments.
- Experience working within multidisciplinary oncology teams and tumor boards.
- Excellent clinical judgment and patient management skills.
- Strong communication skills with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Ability to provide compassionate care for patients and families throughout the cancer treatment journey.
