Elia Group is seeking a Traineeship Designer High Voltage (Substations) based in Brussels. This role involves preparing drawings and documentation for high-voltage installations. The position includes a comprehensive four-month training program covering substation components, design tools, practical exercises, and site visits. Participants will gain hands-on experience in real-life projects. The training is delivered in Dutch. The ideal candidate has a technical degree or experience in electrical engineering or related fields, an interest in design, and strong communication skills. Proficiency in Dutch is required, and French is preferred.
Within Elia Group, the Large Projects and Grid Solutions departments are responsible for all infrastructure projects required for the development, expansion, and modernization of the Belgian transmission network, covering voltage levels ranging from 30 kV to 380 kV.
As a High Voltage Designer (Substations), you prepare drawings and related documentation during the pre-study and design phases for the construction of new high-voltage installations or the modification of existing ones. You also integrate interfaces with related disciplines (Powerlinks, Civil Works, and Low Voltage) into your studies.
To provide new employees with a strong start, we offer a four-month training program (starting in October).
During this program, participants become familiar with the main components of a substation and receive training in our design tools. In addition to a solid theoretical foundation, they work on practical design exercises, enabling them to quickly gain proficiency in the tools.
Participants then tackle realistic project assignments. Step by step, they go through all phases of a real-life project, translating their theoretical knowledge into practical experience.
The program also includes site visits and visits to operational substations, allowing participants to see firsthand how their designs are implemented in the field.
The training is delivered in Dutch to ensure an optimal learning environment aligned with the Dutch-speaking projects that will follow.
At the end of the program, participants will have acquired the knowledge and skills required to start their first projects as a Technical Designer Substations.
