Egis Singapore is establishing a Coastal and Climate Resilience practice, backed by the Group’s established capabilities in France and Australia. The Singapore Government has committed $1–2 billion annually over the next century to coastal protection, with site-specific studies underway and major works expected from the 2030s. Beyond Singapore, the region presents significant opportunities across Southeast Asia, where coastal vulnerability, rapid urbanisation, and climate adaptation needs are driving growing demand for resilience-focused advisory and technical services.

This role starts up the practice in close partnership with the Managing Director, Singapore. The successful candidate will bring technical credibility, established client relationships, and a track record of winning work. The candidate will work with the Managing Director to build the team and pipeline from the ground up, initially focused on Singapore, but eventually to encompass priority countries for Egis in Southeast Asia (Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia).

1)  Business Development and Work Winning

  • Develop and maintain relationships with government agencies (e.g. PUB, JTC, MPA) and private asset owners with coastline exposure.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities from Singapore’s coastal protection programme and related legislation.
  • Lead proposal preparation and convert client relationships into secured commissions.
  • Build Egis’s market profile through industry forums, working groups, and client engagement.

2)  Technical Delivery

  • Provide technical leadership across one or more of: climate adaptation, coastal and marine environmental assessment, nature-based solutions, flood and climate risk modelling, or sustainability-linked infrastructure.
  • Deliver site-specific coastal protection studies and climate risk assessments to government and private sector clients.
  • Draw on Egis’s global teams in France and Australia to strengthen local delivery and proposal quality.

3)  Practice Development

  • Start up the practice as sole practitioner in the near term, with full responsibility for pipeline and delivery.
  • Develop a sector business plan with the Managing Director and take ownership of its execution.
  • Recruit and develop a multi-disciplinary team over time, spanning coastal engineering, marine ecology, flood modelling, and sustainability.

4)  Stakeholder Engagement

  • Maintain an active network across government agencies, research institutions, and industry associations.
  • Contribute to thought leadership through participation in relevant industry associations, technical panels, and public forums to advocate for Egis’s expertise and brand in the sector.
  • Support Egis’s positioning as a trusted partner in Singapore’s long-term coastal protection programme.

5)  Ethics and Brand Representation

Uphold Egis’s values and professional standards; act as an ambassador for the Group in the sector.

  • Proven experience in one or more of: coastal resilience, climate adaptation, marine environmental assessment, nature-based solutions, flood and climate risk modelling, or sustainability-linked infrastructure;
  • Established relationships with PUB, JTC, MPA, or equivalent agencies involved in coastal protection and climate adaptation in Singapore;
  • Proven track record in business development — leading proposals and converting client relationships into won work;
  • Ability to operate with autonomy and build a practice from the ground up;
  • Strong communication skills — able to translate technical concepts into clear client-facing outputs;
  • Familiarity with Singapore’s coastal protection policy landscape and PUB’s programmes;
  • Comfortable in a matrix organisation, collaborating with global teams;
  • Entrepreneurial drive and willingness to take initiative;
  • Current eligability to work in Singapore
  • Excellent English; Mandarin proficiency an advantage.
