Citi is looking for a senior Data Analytics Lead to join the Markets Data Risk Execution team in Warsaw, where you will own the design and delivery of advanced analytics capabilities that directly reduce data quality risk across global Markets functions. This is a high-visibility role that combines hands-on technical leadership with strategic programme delivery, working at the intersection of data engineering, risk management, and cross-asset Markets expertise. If you are ready to shape durable, large-scale data solutions and influence outcomes at the most senior levels of the organisation, this is the opportunity for you.
Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end delivery of strategic Markets data analytics programmes, from solution design and development through testing, UAT, and final sign-off, ensuring timely execution across multiple simultaneous workstreams.
- Meticulous planning skills with the ability to run simultaneous projects and ensure that delivery timescales are managed accurately and communicated effectively. Ability to translate a complex delivery schedule into correctly structured JIRA plans and Confluence documentation.
- Design and build a best-in-class data analytics platform that surfaces actionable insights into the root causes of data quality issues, enabling targeted risk remediation across Markets.
- Analyse end-to-end data flows across Markets domains to identify control gaps, then own the design of data specifications and integrated dashboard analytics in partnership with Technology.
- Deploy machine learning models and advanced SQL and Python solutions to detect data quality anomalies — including outliers — at scale across critical data sets.
- Design and continuously enhance Control Analytics across Critical Data Elements and associated Data Quality validations, providing thought leadership on complex cross-control data analysis.
- Mentor and develop team members, including VPs and junior analysts, coordinating workflows and managing competing priorities across business-as-usual and project-driven delivery.
- Prepare and present executive-level updates for senior management, governance forums, Internal Audit, and regulators, translating complex analytical findings into clear, decision-ready insights.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- 12 or more years of experience in financial services, with demonstrated depth in Markets data, data analytics, data transformation, risk management, or data governance.
- Expert-level SQL skills, with a track record of solving complex, large-scale data problems in trading or Markets environments, including experience designing systems for data control monitoring and exception management.
- Solid command of the Python ecosystem — including Pandas, NumPy, and Jupyter notebooks — with the ability to design and structure production-quality Python applications for data analysis.
- Advanced Tableau skills, with the ability to build high-impact dashboards and translate complex data into clear, audience-appropriate visualisations for senior stakeholders.
- Deep knowledge of Markets products, trade lifecycle processes, and data structures across multiple asset classes, including Equities, Rates, FX, Spread Products, and Commodities.
- Strong risk data expertise spanning historical market data, data governance frameworks, and model input quality for market risk (VaR) and counterparty credit risk.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and present with clarity and confidence in governance and regulatory settings.
Beneficial Skills & Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with AI and machine learning initiatives, including exposure to large language models such as ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini, or applied data science methods using scikit-learn or similar frameworks.
- Experience with dimensional data modelling for analytical warehouses and familiarity with common patterns of data manipulation in large-scale environments.
- Ability to translate complex delivery schedules into structured project plans using tools such as JIRA and Confluence.
- Master's degree in a quantitative, technical, or business discipline.
