Position Summary 

The Impact Associate will play a vital role in supporting CGC's mission by contributing to impact diligence, portfolio management, and market development activities. Working under the direction of the Senior Director of Impact and Investments, the Associate is responsible for supporting impact assessments and investment diligence, maintaining portfolio performance data, engaging developers and community stakeholders, and advancing research that informs CGC’s investment and market development strategies. The role also supports Customer and Impact team’s integration into organizational systems such as CRM and portfolio management.   

Key Responsibilities 

Impact Diligence and Analysis: Support the Senior Director of Impact and Investments to conduct impact diligence on prospective investments. Support transaction scoring and impact evaluation processes. Review project data, developer materials, and diligence responses. Prepare impact memoranda, transaction summaries, and Investment Committee materials.  

Impact Frameworks: Contribute to the development of frameworks that can integrate community benefits, economic outcomes, and GHG reduction into investment strategies. Track and report on key performance indicators. Prepare progress updates and data reports for internal and external stakeholders. 

Developer Research and Technical Assistance: Provide assistance to developers who are considering CGC financing and technical support to advance in the process. Special consideration for developers who are serving LIDAC, Tribal, and Rural markets. Research business models, financial products, and market opportunities. Identify trends affecting rural, Tribal, and LIDAC communities. Develop research memoranda and presentations to inform market development efforts. 

Stakeholder Engagement: Provide support for the Environmental Justice Advisory Committee by preparing data and progress updates.  

Organizational Systems: Ensure Customer and Impact Team’s integration into organizational systems such as Salesforce and other portfolio management requirements.   

Qualifications 

Required

Education & Experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree and 4+ years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and directly related experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in impact investing, climate and clean energy finance, economic development, management consulting, infrastructure, public policy, community development, or a related field.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time.

 Analytical Skills 
 

  • Ability to analyze quantitative and qualitative information.
  • Strong Excel proficiency.
  • Experience working with datasets, KPIs, and performance tracking.
  • Ability to evaluate project, developer, and investment information.

 Communication 

  • Exceptional written communication skills.
  • Ability to prepare executive summaries, memoranda, and presentations.
  • Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • Experience synthesizing findings into written reports and presentations.

Mission Alignment 

  • Demonstrated interest in climate and clean energy solutions in rural communities, Tribal communities, and low income and disadvantaged (LIDAC) communities.

Preferred Qualifications  
 
Climate & Impact 
 

  • Experience evaluating climate and clean energy including renewable energy, buildings, transportation, and other infrastructure projects.
  • Familiarity with:
  • EPA Greenhouse Gas methodologies
  • Climate and Economic Justice Screening Tool (CEJST)
  • Impact investing frameworks
  • Community benefit frameworks

 Investment & Finance 

  • Exposure to project finance, infrastructure finance, private equity, venture capital, green banks, CDFIs, or impact funds.
  • Experience supporting diligence processes or investment committees.

 Market Development 

  • Experience conducting market research.
  • Experience engaging municipalities, developers, community organizations, utilities, or local stakeholders.
  • Experience designing or evaluating customer-facing programs.
  • Experience with consumer protection.

Compensation & Benefits

The salary range for this role is $117,715 – $132,549. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, and overall qualifications, and may vary from the stated range. This role is also eligible for a performance bonus.
