The Opportunity
Are you passionate about fostering meaningful relationships with Indigenous communities? TC Energy is seeking an experienced Indigenous Relations (IR) Engagement Lead to join our team in the Fort McMurray and north central Alberta (AB) area.
Reporting to the Team Lead, Indigenous Relations, Northern AB, you will lead engagement with Indigenous groups while also supporting the internal coordination, documentation, and reporting processes that underpin effective Indigenous Relations across the business.
In this role, you will be responsible for establishing and maintaining strong working relationships with Indigenous communities in the Fort McMurray area, while ensuring engagement activities are well-documented, organized, and aligned with regulatory and company requirements.
You will be part of a team that balances external engagement with internal coordination. This includes working collaboratively across business units and with leadership at all levels, while supporting consistent tracking of engagement activities, maintaining accurate records, and contributing to internal reporting and briefing materials.
Effective Indigenous participation and engagement are core to TC Energy’s approach to Indigenous Relations. This role plays a key part in delivering IR strategies through both relationship-building and the systems and processes that support it. This will require travel to remote locations across Fort McMurray and north central Alberta, along with strong attention to detail in managing documentation and administrative workflows.
Success in this role requires a solid understanding of the governance, cultural, and historical context of Indigenous communities in the region, including Métis communities and organizations, combined with the ability to maintain organized, accurate, and defensible records that support engagement outcomes.
