About the Role
The Financial Planning & Analysis, Senior Principal is a strategic finance leader responsible for supporting the Director, Financial Management & Planning in delivering forward-looking financial insights to the Director, Finance, CFO, CEO, and the Executive Committee.
This role plays a critical part, supporting the Director, Financial Management & Planning
in enabling informed business decision-making, driving financial performance, and strengthening financial discipline across the organisation.
The Financial Management & Planning function is structured around three core pillars, integrating channel insights, expense management and financial planning and analysis into a cohesive operating model.
This position holder will focus primarily on sales production, channel analytics and insights as well the financial planning and analysis covering the fortnightly forecast and annual strategic planning and budgeting.
This role contributes to the delivery of customer outcomes that are reliable, thoughtful, and create meaningful impact for customers and society. The role holder is expected to embed a customer first mindset in all decisions and actions by developing a clear understanding of customer needs, taking end to end ownership to resolve issues, and working collaboratively across teams to continuously enhance the customer journey—both directly and indirectly.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Distribution Channel Financial Insights
- Serve as a strategic finance partner to distribution channel heads
- Collaborate on financial strategies, forecasting, and performance management frameworks to drive growth
- Provide clear, actionable business insights, translating complex financial data into decision-ready information
- Review and challenge channel forecasts, ensuring appropriate product mix, segment analysis, and trend insights
- Identify opportunities for performance optimisation and margin enhancement
- Facilitate senior management discussions (CEO, CFO, CAO, CPDO, CCSO) at CSRM, ensuring alignment on performance outlook and actions
Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)
- Acting as a trusted advisor to the Director, Finance, CFO, CEO, and Executive Committee, providing forward-looking financial insights and recommendations
- Drive CSRM, bi-weekly sales production forecasting, and monthly/quarterly reporting processes with strong analytical rigor
- Lead the end-to-end financial planning cycle, including business planning, budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting
- Review and challenge business submissions, ensuring robustness of assumptions and alignment to strategic priorities
- Partner with Group Finance, Regional CE Office, and Strategy teams to deliver a high-quality annual business plan
- Lead preparation for quarterly results announcements, including Q&A development, with Strategy Office and RCE Office
- Perform deep-dive financial analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, translating insights into actionable recommendations
- Monitor performance vs plan, proactively identifying variances and driving corrective actions
- Lead development of management information systems (MIS) and data analytics capabilities
- Drive process optimisation, automation, and transformation initiatives, including outsourcing where appropriate
- Support ongoing Finance data and analytics transformation initiatives (e.g., Group TDA, local MIS enhancements)
People Leadership & Management
- Lead and develop a high-performing team of 10+ professionals
- Foster a culture of engagement, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Coach and mentor talent, with a focus on succession planning and capability building
- Drive team alignment to organisational goals while enhancing collaboration across Finance and the broader business
Ad Hoc Tasks Assigned
- Lead or support ad hoc tasks, strategic initiatives, or special projects assigned by Director, Finance
Minimum Job Requirements:
Education
- Degree in Finance, Accounting, Actuarial Science, or related discipline
Professional Qualification
- MBA, CPA, or equivalent preferred
Experience
- 20+ years’ experience in senior finance roles, ideally within insurance or financial services
Industry
- Insurance or financial services preferred
Technical Capability
- Strong track record in FP&A, business partnering, and financial transformation
Leadership
- Proven ability to operate effectively in complex, fast-paced environments
Competencies
- Strong analytical capability with ability to translate data into business insights and actions
- Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills across senior leadership levels
- Proficiency in financial systems, data analytics, and reporting tools
