Description
Amazon Leo is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite network. Our mission is to deliver fast, reliable internet connectivity to customers beyond the reach of existing networks. From individual households to schools, hospitals, businesses, and government agencies, Amazon Leo will serve people and organizations operating in locations without reliable connectivity.
Have you ever wanted to become involved in the global rollout of satellite earth stations for a high-performance satellite constellation? We are looking for a Satellite Ground Technical Operations Engineer to join Amazon Leo's ground gateway terminal operations team. You will lead efforts to ensure high performance ground gateways are able to continuously serve our broadband customers by investigating faults and anomalies, both remotely and on-site at our gateway terminals. You will collaborate with other subject matter experts to develop the tools and procedures necessary to support this global endeavor.
Export Control Requirement:
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Key job responsibilities
* Address and remediate antenna faults, alarms, and anomalies
* Perform on-site fault analysis and troubleshooting of gateway antennas
* Maintain and/or update antenna calibrations as necessary
* Perform software updates/upgrades of antenna components
* Manage tactical interactions with partners to ensure milestones, deliverables, and technical artifacts are technically compliant with project objectives and programmatic requirements.
* Work with stakeholder teams to maintain operational terminals in sync with organizational goals.
* Develop team training plans and materials.
* Communicate regularly with senior management on status, risks and change control.
* Focus on our efforts in the AMER region
A day in the life
As a Gateway Terminal Technical Ops Engineer, you will provide both remote and on-site leadership to analyze, fix, and maintain our gateway antennas across the world. You will address tickets generated by our automated monitoring systems; providing critical feedback to dial in and improve our systems. You must be willing to travel (up to 50%) to our gateways in order to address physical problems and troubleshoot faults and anomalies. Your contributions will keep our systems capable of serving our customers. These systems provide mission critical communications with Amazon Leo satellites. Ground terminals include state of the art tracking antennas, modems, and innovative support systems.
About the team
The Ground Systems team is responsible for the architecture, design, build, installation, and operation of globally located Leo Ground and TTnC terminals. Our Ground Gateways enable high data rate, low latency communications between Leo points of presence and our Low Earth Orbit Satellite constellation. The team works closely with Ground Infrastructure Services, Networks, Regulatory, Payload Test, and RF Systems teams to ensure Leo provides a seamless customer experience.
