The AI Governance Specialist defines and operationalizes the frameworks, policies, and controls required to manage AI usage at enterprise scale, ensuring compliance, accountability, and strategic alignment. The AI Governance Expert should be an expert in enablement and see their role as enabling the organization to build and scale AI in a safe and compliant way, not blocking AI delivery.
You will work in close collaboration with the Regulatory & Compliance, Legal, Audit, Business, CISO, Data & Platform as well as the Engineering and Architecture department.
Key responsibilities
- Define and maintain the AI governance framework (policies, roles, controls) for the Group.
- Ensure compliance with the EU AI Act and applicable regulations
- Monitor and support compliance with ISO 42001 (AI management system)
- Establish and manage an AI management system across the full lifecycle
- Maintain a central inventory of AI systems and ensure transparency
- Work with AI Safety Expert to ensure risk controls are embedded in governance (Ethical AI use, Data governance, Model lifecycle management, AI-generated content)
- Lead the creation of an AI playbook and reference architectures together with ML, engineering and data teams
- Coordinate with key stakeholders (Legal, Compliance, IT, Business, Architecture)
- Promote compliant and scalable AI adoption across the organization
Your profile
- Master’s degree in IT, Business Administration, Engineering, or relevant equivalent experience
- Strong background in governance, risk, and compliance (GRC)
- Experience with enterprise governance frameworks or data governance
- Good understanding of AI technologies and lifecycle
- Hands-on experience with AI and ML
- Knowledge of regulatory frameworks (EU AI Act, data protection, ISO standards)
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
- Experience in designing practical governance processes in complex enterprise environments
- Understanding of critical infrastructure, energy systems, OT environments, or regulated industries a plus.
- Fluent in English; Knowledge of Dutch, French and/or German is a strong asset
