We are seeking an accomplished and highly skilled Consultant Cardiovascular Surgeon to join our multidisciplinary healthcare team. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing and surgically managing a wide range of congenital and acquired cardiovascular conditions while delivering exceptional patient-centered care. This role requires extensive surgical expertise, excellent clinical judgment, and a commitment to achieving outstanding patient outcomes through evidence-based practice and collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, evaluate, and surgically treat patients with cardiovascular diseases and disorders.
- Perform a broad range of cardiac and vascular surgical procedures, including coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), heart valve repair and replacement, aortic surgery, and other complex cardiovascular interventions.
- Assess patients through comprehensive clinical evaluation, diagnostic investigations, and imaging studies.
- Develop individualized treatment and surgical management plans based on current clinical guidelines.
- Provide comprehensive pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative patient care.
- Manage emergency cardiovascular surgical cases as required.
- Collaborate with cardiologists, anesthesiologists, intensivists, radiologists, perfusionists, and nursing teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Participate in multidisciplinary case conferences and clinical decision-making.
- Educate patients and families regarding treatment options, surgical procedures, risks, benefits, and post-operative care.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation using electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, morbidity and mortality meetings, and clinical audits.
- Mentor junior physicians and contribute to education, research, and continuous professional development.
- Adhere to patient safety, infection prevention, and clinical governance standards.
- Medical degree (MBBS, MD, or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
- Completion of a recognized residency in Cardiothoracic Surgery or Cardiovascular Surgery.
- Fellowship or advanced subspecialty training in Cardiovascular Surgery.
- Board Certification or equivalent specialist qualification in Cardiovascular Surgery.
- Minimum of 5 years of post-fellowship experience as a Consultant Cardiovascular Surgeon.
- Extensive experience performing adult cardiac surgical procedures, including CABG, valve surgery, and aortic surgery.
- Experience managing complex cardiovascular surgical cases in a tertiary care or academic hospital is preferred.
- Strong clinical judgment, surgical expertise, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
