About the Role
Join us as Portfolio Manager, Real Estate Investments at AIA Investment Management!The objective of this role is to drive the sourcing, execution and management of global real asset investment opportunities, contributing to the delivery of superior risk-adjusted returns in accordance with AIA’s Group long-term capital objectives.
The incumbent is expected to independently originate and assess investment opportunities, lead end-to-end transaction execution—including underwriting, deal structuring, negotiations and investment due diligence—and secure internal approvals while ensuring adherence to governance and risk frameworks. In parallel, the role will actively manage and optimise the performance of the real estate investment portfolio through ongoing monitoring, risk assessment, and close engagement with external fund managers and partners.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Head of Real Estate Investment in formulating and implementing the real estate portfolio strategy to meet investment allocation targets.
- Source, evaluate and recommend financially attractive real asset investments that meet AIA’s needs and requirements.
- Lead end-to-end transaction execution, including underwriting, structuring, negotiating, investment due diligence, prepare in-depth investment memo, and securing necessary internal approvals.
- Ensuring the investment processes are conducted in compliance with in-house policies, procedures and governance.
- Actively manage assigned portfolio, including ongoing performance review, risk assessment, and engaging with external managers and partners.
Requirements
- Minimum 8 years of professional experience in investment-related function with fund managers, financial institutions, or insurance companies. Demonstrated direct experience in real assets, infrastructure and/or real estate is essential.
- University degree in finance, economics, business or related discipline. CFA or equivalent preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills and abilities; demonstrating confidence in building and effectively maintaining positive relationships with stakeholders, partners, managers and co-workers. Strong written and oral communication skills are essential.
- Self-motivated team player who is meticulous, detailed oriented, organized, quick learner, adapt at multi-tasking, with strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Strong business acumen and analytical capability. Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills required. Knowledge of eFront, Aladdin, and AI usage is an advantage.
