To provide specialized diagnostic and minimally invasive image-guided interventional procedures for the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of medical conditions. The Consultant – Interventional Radiology is responsible for delivering high-quality patient care, ensuring patient safety, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and maintaining clinical excellence in accordance with UAE healthcare regulations, hospital policies, and internationally recognized standards.
Perform a comprehensive range of diagnostic and image-guided interventional radiology procedures using ultrasound, fluoroscopy, CT, and angiographic imaging systems.
Evaluate patients, review medical history, laboratory investigations, and imaging studies to determine the appropriateness of interventional procedures.
Develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with referring physicians and multidisciplinary teams.
Perform vascular and non-vascular interventional procedures, including but not limited to angiography, angioplasty, embolization, thrombolysis, venous access procedures, image-guided biopsies, drainage procedures, nephrostomy, biliary interventions, tumor ablation, and other minimally invasive therapeutic interventions within the approved scope of practice.
Obtain informed consent and explain procedural risks, benefits, and alternatives to patients and their families.
Monitor patients before, during, and after procedures, managing complications promptly and effectively.
Interpret diagnostic imaging studies and provide timely, accurate reports.
Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, tumor boards, and clinical case discussions.
Supervise and support junior physicians, radiographers, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
Maintain accurate, timely, and complete documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
Ensure compliance with radiation safety standards, infection prevention protocols, and patient safety initiatives.
Participate in departmental quality assurance, clinical audits, peer reviews, and continuous quality improvement programs.
Participate in on-call services and emergency interventional radiology coverage as required.
Engage in Continuing Medical Education (CME), research, teaching, and professional development activities.
Perform other duties assigned by the Medical Director within the scope of practice.
