Role Overview
The Senior BIM Leader / BIM Manager will lead and manage BIM and CAD delivery for water and wastewater infrastructure projects within Atkins’ Water and Environment business. This role combines technical excellence, team leadership, and strategic BIM implementation to ensure high-quality, compliant, and efficient project outcomes across multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the BIM/CAD function within the Water and Environment discipline.
- Provide strategic direction and governance for BIM implementation across projects, ensuring alignment with client standards, international BIM mandates, and organizational objectives.
- Deliver BIM-enabled design solutions for water and wastewater infrastructure projects across planning, design, and construction stages.
- Oversee the development of project deliverables, including drawings, models, and technical reports, ensuring compliance with scope, budget, quality, and schedule requirements.
- Act as the BIM subject matter expert, ensuring consistent application of BIM standards, workflows, and best practices.
- Establish, maintain, and enforce BIM Execution Plans (BEP), CAD/BIM standards, and data management protocols.
- Lead and mentor BIM Managers, Coordinators, Designers, and Technicians; train and onboard new team members.
- Coordinate closely with Project Managers, Design Engineers, and subconsultants to ensure integrated project delivery.
- Review and approve BIM/CAD outputs, resolving technical issues and improving efficiency and accuracy.
- Drive innovation, continuous improvement, and adoption of new BIM technologies, tools, and processes.
- Support project bids, proposals, and capability statements related to BIM and digital engineering.
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure delivery is compliant with health, safety, quality, and environmental standards.
- Interface directly with clients to represent BIM capabilities and deliver client-focused solutions.
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or BTech in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution.
- 15+ years of experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Revit, and AVEVA E3D, with extensive involvement in water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
- Proven experience in a BIM leadership or BIM management role within large, multidisciplinary projects.
- Strong background in detailing and modeling of water and wastewater assets, including pipelines, pump stations, treatment plants, utilities, and roadway interfaces.
- Experience working with international clients and complying with varied jurisdictional and regulatory requirements.
Technical Competencies
- Expert-level knowledge of BIM and CAD standards, workflows, and data environments.
- Proficient in:
- Civil 3D alignments, parcels, feature lines, corridors, surfaces, labels, and data references.
- Roadway design including corridors, subassemblies, FG design, grading, contours, and surface cleanup.
- Utility design in plan and profile, including pipe networks, manholes, catch basins, hydrants, cover requirements, spacing standards, and jurisdictional codes.
- Mathematical calculations involving geometry, algebra, trigonometry, ratios, and proportions.
- Ability to review, interpret, and develop design concepts from sketches, redlines, and engineering inputs.
- Strong capability in evaluating engineering alternatives and resolving complex technical challenges.
Project & Leadership Skills
- Plan, coordinate, and execute work safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively.
- Manage engineering plans, project documentation, and digital deliverables.
- Coordinate and review the work of subconsultants and offshore delivery teams.
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines while maintaining quality and accuracy.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
