ITnova is seeking an experienced H-1 Flight Equipment Technician (CDQAR / QASO) to join our aviation maintenance team supporting mission-critical rotary-wing aircraft operations. In this role, you will perform aviation life support systems (ALSS) maintenance while serving as a Collateral Duty Quality Assurance Representative (CDQAR) and/or Quality Assurance Safety Observer (QASO), ensuring flight equipment meets established quality, safety, and operational standards. Responsibilities include conducting quality assurance inspections, maintaining ALSS equipment and documentation, providing technical guidance to technicians, and ensuring compliance with applicable maintenance and safety requirements. The ideal candidate has extensive experience with aviation life support systems, a strong background in quality assurance and safety oversight, and a commitment to ensuring aircrew safety and mission readiness in a fast-paced, mission-focused environment.
Responsibilities:
- Serves as a CDQAR and/or Quality Assurance Safety Observer (QASO) in the primary discipline of ALSS / Flight Equipment (MOS 6048 or equivalent) during the contract period.
- Performs inspection, maintenance, and certification of aviation life support systems (ALSS), including helmets, oxygen systems, survival gear, and protective equipment.
- Conducts initial, in-progress, and final quality assurance inspections of ALSS equipment and components.
- Ensures compliance with CNAFINST 4790.2, applicable NAMP requirements, and T/M/S technical publications.
- Maintains ALSS records, logs, and historical files using OOMA and required documentation.
- Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, including cleaning, testing, repair, preservation, and certification of assigned equipment.
- Provides technical guidance and QA oversight to technicians to ensure safe-for-flight support standards are met.
- Monitors compliance with Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) requirements and hazardous material handling procedures applicable to the work center.
- Assists with Product Quality Deficiency Reports (PQDRs), discrepancy reporting, and corrective action documentation, as required.
- Supports flight line operations, including issue/receipt and accountability of flight equipment.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 8 years aviation maintenance experience with at least 4 years rotary-wing experience.
- Minimum of 4 years CDI, CDQAR, QA, or QASO experience on military aircraft or equivalent quality assurance experience.
- Experience in ALSS / Flight Equipment maintenance and inspection, preferably MOS 6048 or equivalent.
- Strong working knowledge of CNAFINST 4790.2, NAMP, and applicable flight equipment technical publications.
- Proficiency in OOMA documentation and records management is required.
- Must be a U.S. citizen and able to pass a background check and obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC).
- Must be able to meet any Government and company licensing or qualification requirements for the position.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift and maneuver 50 pounds.
- Able to pass a fit-for-work physical and/or drug test as required.
- Must be able to work in areas that require awkward posturing, bending, kneeling, squatting, and working overhead.
- Must be able to work at height in the hangar and on the flight line, as required.
- Must be able to man and perform flight line extinguisher duties, as required.
- If required, must be able to pass a DOT physical and operate powered industrial trucks.
- If required, must be able to pass a respiratory physical and wear a respirator for 2 to 4 hours.
- If required, must be able to perform confined-space activities.
- Travel may be required.
