Description
About the team
BandLab Technologies is a collective of global music technology companies built around one idea: that there should be no barriers to making and sharing music. Our brands - BandLab, Cakewalk, ReverbNation, and Airbit — serve creators at every stage of their journey, from first ideas to professional release. Together, they reach hundreds of millions of musicians, producers, and fans around the world.
We're headquartered in Singapore and part of Caldecott Music Group. Our communications team is small, senior, and close to the work, sitting at the intersection of brand, product, and culture, and responsible for helping people understand what we’re building.
About the role
The Brand Communications Manager will be a core part of the team, developing and executing external communications plans that help BandLab Technologies and its brands show up clearly across launches, campaigns, product releases, and brand storytelling.
We’re looking for someone who can hold multiple projects without losing the thread, build real press relationships, and find compelling angles in work that doesn’t always come with a ready-made headline. You’ll bring a practical sense of how to turn brand activity, product updates, and campaign ideas into timely press stories that support the company’s broader communications priorities.
This role needs equal parts strategic thinking and hands-on execution. Clear writing, sound judgment, and genuine curiosity about the music and creator landscape will take you far here.
We want someone who is genuinely plugged into music culture, not because the job requires it, but because they can't help it. You follow the artists, the platforms, the labels, and the debates. That kind of embedded knowledge is hard to fake and impossible to teach, and it's what separates communications that feel alive from communications that just tick a box.
This role is based at our Singapore HQ with a minimum of three days on-site per week. Early mornings, nights, and weekends will occasionally be part of the job — that's the nature of communications work and we're upfront about it.
This role is based at our Singapore HQ with a minimum of three days on-site per week. Early mornings, nights, and weekends will occasionally be part of the job — that's the nature of communications work and we're upfront about it.
You'll contribute across a broad range of communications work, from external campaigns and brand storytelling to corporate moments and day-to-day press. Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborate closely with internal teams to develop communications plans for brand campaigns, product releases, and company initiatives that require brand or press support.
- Build and maintain a strong network of press relationships across corporate, trade, creator, and cultural outlets globally.
- Manage day-to-day press activity across internal teams and external agency partners, including media lists, outreach, follow-ups, coverage tracking, reporting, and next steps.
- Execute communications activity for our brands, working hand-in-hand across multiple internal teams.
- Draft and manage press materials and PR plans for launches and campaigns, including press releases, fact sheets, and written assets that represent us well.
- Support corporate communications efforts including award submissions and industry recognition opportunities.
- Assist with brand reputation and crisis response by monitoring coverage, tracking issues, and escalating what matters.
- Provide on-the-ground support for internal and industry events as needed.
- Identify non-traditional coverage opportunities, including podcasts, newsletters, and the creator-led channels where our audience actually lives.
- Work with social and digital teams to extend earned media impact beyond the press hit.
- At least 5 years of experience in public relations, publicity, or external communications.
- Exceptional writing. You can turn complex ideas into clear, compelling copy across formats, under pressure, with minimal oversight.
- Solid experience drafting press releases, fact sheets, biographies, and similar materials with real attention to detail.
- Highly organized with strong instincts for prioritization when everything feels urgent.
- Strong editorial judgment and experience creating clear, compelling materials for launches, campaigns, and brand moments.
- Deep knowledge of the earned media landscape and press relationships you've genuinely built.
- Confident in presenting communications plans to internal stakeholders.
- A creative problem-solver who challenges how things have always been done.
- Discreet and professional with sensitive information, and naturally curious about everything we're building.
- Proficient in Google Workspace.
- You bring fresh thinking because you're genuinely living in the space, following the artists, the platforms, the debates, not just monitoring it from a distance.
Preferred qualifications
- You understand that news doesn't keep office hours, and you're okay with that.
- Experience in music, technology, or the creator economy is a genuine plus.
- Familiarity with BandLab Technologies' brands and an appreciation for what music means to the people who make it.
Education
Bachelor's degree or equivalent, preferably in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field — ideal but not necessary.
