Description

👷🏻‍♀️ What we do 👷🏻‍♀️

At Emidat, we are building the first climate-native product management system for building material manufacturers. We aim to decarbonise building materials, making up 11% of global GHG emissions. We collect data from physical production processes, generate a digital product passport with verified environmental data and make it usable along the value chain. In short: One solution to assess, design, buy, sell and manage products - with environmental impact at the core.

With this, we are building the digital infrastructure to make it faster, easier, and more sustainable to build the world around us.

What you will work on

Your mission

You will be our first full-time frontend-focussed engineer and take ownership of the entire frontend codebase and architecture. You act as the expert in the frontend domain and are the go-to person for all teams regarding our web applications. You maintain and evolve existing applications, and you are a key player in the creation of new applications that extend our product surface.

You will work closely with design to create a consistent and reusable design system. You have a taste for design, can define what a good UX looks like, and you bring attention to all the details.

As a Senior Engineer on this team, you own the full product loop. You don't implement specs handed to you. You're in discovery conversations, forming hypotheses, shipping, and measuring. High autonomy, high accountability.

In the first 6 months, you will

  • Take full ownership over complex, ambiguous projects: define requirements, navigate trade-offs, and drive delivery.
  • Build prototypes and new applications from zero to one that unlock new value for our customers.
  • Specifically, help ship a platform for Digital Product Passports that doesn’t just comply with regulation but is a joy to use.
  • Coach and mentor other engineers in the team on system architecture.
  • Improve how we build: invest in tooling, processes, and abstractions that multiply the team's output
  • Identify problems others don't see, and turn them into actionable proposals.

Our Tech Stack:

  • Languages: Python, TypeScript
  • Backend: FastAPI, gRPC
  • Frontend: React
  • Databases: PostgreSQL, Redis
  • Infrastructure & DevOps: Kubernetes, OpenTofu, OTel, AWS, Azure

  • Product Delivery: Linear

What you should bring to this role

  • Expertise in frameworks for creating scalable web applications like React (strongly preferred), Angular, Vue or Svelte.
  • Thrives in a fast-moving environment where priorities and direction can shift quickly, and is ready to pivot when the data points a new way.
  • Experienced in leveraging AI to accelerate product development.
  • Business-Fluent English (written and verbal) for internal and external communication.

Nice to haves

  • Experience building software around complex domain specifications or standards.
  • Domain knowledge or professional exposure to adjacent sectors, such as Climate/Sustainability, Construction Tech, or Manufacturing.
  • Having created and maintained design systems or component libraries.
