The San Francisco Campus for Jewish Living (SFCJL) is seeking an Assistant Controller to join their finance team. Reporting to the Controller, this role involves ensuring financial accuracy, preparing financial statements, and analyzing costs. The Assistant Controller will also review work from other department members, including payroll, and collaborate with department heads on budget reports. This position requires strong analytical skills and the ability to mentor accounting staff.

Position Overview
Reporting to the Controller, the Assistant Controller will work closely with the finance team to ensure accuracy of financial statement preparation and reviewing work by others in the department, including payroll. This role helps analyze overhead, occupancy and indirect costs. This position also works closely with other department heads to review and explain questions related to department budget reports.
Essential Job Functions
· Assist Controller in ensuring that necessary controls are in place to maintain the integrity and accuracy of financial information.
· Assist Controller in numerous duties including budget analysis, and budgets & performance tracking.
· Develop, maintain and improve internal accounting systems to include create/ revise related policies and procedures.
· Ability to produce quality correspondence, spreadsheets, reports and presentations .
· Research and analysis skills for financial and operating data, including planning and implementation of selected solutions
· Review Accounts Payable including resident banking.
· Review and prepare financial statements and reports, ensure timely and accurate reporting, compliance with appropriate accounting methods
· Mentor and assist accounting staff
· Review and approve payroll
· Act as back-up for key activities of Controller
Requirements
· BA in accounting or finance preferred.
· Proficient with Excel, Word, accounting software, web research and email
