About The Role
G2 is looking for a Network Engineer, IT Operations and is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining network infrastructure across the company’s APAC offices with primary ownership of a new Gurgaon office build-out and ongoing support of the existing Bengaluru site. This role spends roughly 70% of its time on network engineering (firewalls, switches, wireless, VPN, segmentation, and high availability) and 30% on hands-on L2 IT support for on-site equipment such as conference room AV, printers, access control panels, employee laptops and surveillance systems. The role partners closely with InfoSec on global network security posture, supports start-of-day coverage for both APAC and EMEA, and serves as a force multiplier for IT support teams based in the region.
In This Role, You Will:
- Network Engineering & Infrastructure (70%)
Design, deploy, and maintain dual-firewall (high-availability) network architectures across APAC office locations, including failover, redundant ISP configuration, and segmentation between corporate and guest networks.
- Own configuration and lifecycle management of enterprise switches, wireless access points, and firewalls across APAC sites; maintain accurate, current network architecture diagrams and IP/VLAN documentation.
- Lead the new APAC site network build, including migration of spare network hardware from existing locations, coordination with building-provided ISPs and managed-office partners, and weekend cutovers to avoid impact to working hours.
Network Security, On-Site IT Support & APAC/EMEA Coverage (20%)
- Partner with InfoSec on global network security posture — firewall policy review, segmentation, VPN/ZTNA, and SOC2-relevant controls — and own audit-ready documentation for network changes.
- Provide hands-on L2 IT support at the local office for conference room AV, printers, badge/access control panels, employee devices and surveillance cameras; partner with regional IT support staff to absorb tickets and onboard/offboard locally based employees.
- Provide first-half-of-day support coverage for EMEA employees and serve as backup APAC coverage for the regional IT support team.
Documentation, Standards & Cross-Site Coordination (10%)
- Maintain a central knowledge base covering network architecture, runbooks, vendor contacts, and standard operating procedures for all APAC sites.
- Coordinate cross-timezone with US- and EMEA-based IT teammates during major outages or change windows impacting APAC infrastructure; participate in on-call rotation for critical network incidents.
- Contribute to IT roadmap planning, vendor evaluations, and quarterly OKR delivery for the Infrastructure team.
Minimum Qualifications:
We realize applying for jobs can feel daunting at times. Even if you don’t check all the boxes in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyway.
- 5–8 years of hands-on experience in network engineering for a mid-to-large enterprise, including firewall administration (Palo Alto, Fortinet, or Cisco ASA), enterprise switching, VLAN/STP/DHCP/DNS, and site-to-site / remote-access VPN.
- Demonstrated experience deploying or operating high-availability network designs (active/passive or active/active firewalls, dual-ISP failover).
- Working knowledge of cloud networking concepts (AWS VPC, Azure VNet, or GCP), wireless infrastructure, and modern identity/SSO integrations with network equipment.
- Comfortable providing hands-on L2 IT support for end-user infrastructure — conference room AV, video conferencing endpoints, printers, badge readers, employee devices — and willing to own this work as part of the role.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; able to operate independently across a globally distributed team and present clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- Willing to work occasional weekend or off-hours change windows for site cutovers and major maintenance.
- CCNA required; CCNP or vendor equivalent (Palo Alto PCNSA/PCNSE, Fortinet NSE) strongly preferred.
- Prior experience supporting a North America–headquartered company from an India location, including comfort with overlapping EMEA/US working windows.
- Familiarity with modern enterprise IT tooling: video conferencing platforms, MDM, SSO/IdP, productivity suites, and ITSM ticketing systems.
- Experience supporting a SOC2-audited environment and producing artifacts for compliance reviews.
- Exposure to scripting or automation (Python, Bash, or vendor APIs) for network configuration backup, change validation, or reporting.
- Ability to identify and implement automation opportunities for repeatable tasks.
