To support Kempinski’s vision of being an undisputed leader in luxury hospitality by making the food & beverage offerings a key differentiating factor for the brand. The Assistant Director of F&B works closely with the Head of Department (HOD) to drive operational excellence, luxury standards, and maximum profitability, while actively grooming themselves to step into an F&B Director role.
1. Operational Excellence & Guest Engagement
- Cross-Service Oversight: Personally oversee every service ecosystem at least once a week (including breakfast, lunch, dinner, lobby lounge, banqueting, room service, and bars).
- Quality Control: Monitor and systematically improve quality and guest satisfaction scores and Customer Satisfaction Surveys.
- Operational Leadership: Conduct daily operations briefings with the Executive Chef and lead weekly departmental meetings in the absence of the F&B HOD.
- Guest Relations: Maintain a highly visible presence on the floor to foster regular guest contact, handle complex complaints, and secure VIP loyalty.
2. Financial Management & Strategic Planning
- Financial Oversight: Assist in compiling and consolidating the department’s yearly operating budget and monthly profit and loss (P&L) statements.
- Business Reviews: Attend monthly performance reviews with individual Outlet Managers to identify revenue-generating and cost-saving opportunities.
- Asset & Inventory Control: Jointly manage the consolidated inventory of the F&B department's OS&E (Operating Supplies & Equipment) alongside the Stewarding department.
- Marketing & Trends: Collaborate with the Sales & Marketing team to compile a yearly marketing plan and competitor analysis for all outlets. Constantly monitor local and global culinary trends to innovate concepts.
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field (ideally from a recognized international hotel school).
- Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive management experience within high-volume, luxury F&B environments. Experience managing standalone or high-end lifestyle restaurant concepts is highly preferred.
Skills & Competencies
- Luxury Mindset: Passionate about European luxury hospitality, grooming, and high-level decorum.
- Business & Financial Acumen: Strong understanding of operational forecasting, budget administration, menu engineering, and local health/hygiene regulations (e.g., HACCP).
- Communication: Exceptional oral and written English skills; the ability to influence and manage relationships in a highly multinational and diverse workforce environment.
- Systems Familiarity: Proficient in property management software (Opera), POS solutions, and advanced Microsoft Excel.
