About the Role
This is a maximum-ownership engineering role at a pre-seed AI-native fintech startup building autonomous agent infrastructure for private markets operations. The platform connects to inboxes, web portals, and financial data sources to extract key data points, reconcile bank accounts, and generate journal entries for existing ERPs — turning days of manual fund accounting work into minutes, with full traceability and real-time collaboration.
As a Founding Engineer, you won't just write code — you'll help shape the product roadmap, work directly with customers, and contribute to building the team. Top performers will grow quickly into a leadership position.
What You'll Do
- Build and own core components of an AI-native operations platform end-to-end
- Develop and maintain agentic/autonomous systems that process financial documents, reconcile transactions, and produce deliverables like journal entries and reporting packages
- Design and build production-grade backend APIs and services that integrate with ERPs, banking systems, email, and file storage
- Integrate, operate, and optimise large language models (LLMs) in production, including model routing and orchestration
- Collaborate closely with early design partners and customers to shape product direction
- Contribute to hiring and help attract exceptional talent as the team grows
What We're Looking For
Required:
- 1–3 years of professional software engineering experience
- Hands-on experience with LLMs and agentic/autonomous systems in production
- Strong backend development skills — building and operating production-grade APIs and services
- Experience building or maintaining AI-native operations infrastructure (e.g. for accounting, reporting, reconciliation, or treasury)
- Domain knowledge in private markets fund accounting, reporting, reconciliation, and/or treasury processes
- High ownership mindset; comfortable with ambiguity and proactive in a small, fast-moving founding team
- Eligibility to work in Germany (visa sponsorship available)
- Based in or willing to relocate to Berlin, Germany
Nice to Have:
- Prior experience at a fintech, fund services, or AI/ML infrastructure company
- Experience scaling systems from early design partners to production workloads
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: €70,000 – €110,000 per year, depending on experience
- Meaningful early-stage equity
- Visa sponsorship available for eligible candidates
- Direct path to a senior leadership role for top performers
Location
This is an on-site role based in Berlin, Germany. Candidates must be based in or willing to relocate to Berlin. Visa sponsorship is available.
