Moelis Private Capital Advisory ("PCA") is a global business that provides strategic advisory and distribution to private fund sponsors and institutional investors, including primary fundraising, tailored capital raise solutions, and secondary market advisory. Combined with the Firm's leading financial sponsor franchise, sector expertise and M&A capabilities, PCA delivers a range of strategic, customized solutions to clients across a wide range of strategies, including buyout, growth, real assets, special situations and sector specific strategies.
The Secondary Advisory team at Moelis & Company is a global team focused on advising institutional investors and financial sponsors on a wide range of strategic liquidity solutions across the private capital universe. Within this platform, the LP-led practice advises limited partners — including pension plans, endowments and foundations, sovereign wealth funds, insurance companies, family offices, asset managers, and funds-of-funds — on the sale and restructuring of their private markets portfolios and individual fund interests. The team works closely with industry and product groups across Moelis to provide relevant market insight, portfolio valuation and structuring advice, and best-in-class execution to clients. As a member of the team, successful candidates will be responsible for supporting advisory, structuring, and execution services to institutional investors seeking liquidity across their private capital holdings.
Position Description:
The Analyst position at Moelis offers exposure to all aspects of the LP-led secondary market, including single-fund and multi-fund LP portfolio sales, structured and preferred equity solutions, deferred and staggered-closing structures, NAV-based financings, and other liquidity and portfolio-management solutions for institutional investors. The Analyst will work closely with senior professionals throughout the firm to support high quality advice delivered to LP clients as they actively manage and rebalance their private markets programs.
Responsibilities:
- Support portfolio-, fund-, and underlying company-level due diligence and valuation analysis across diversified LP portfolios; assist in preparing marketing materials (portfolio overviews, teasers, data books, etc.) and other transaction-related documentation
- Financial analysis and modeling, including LP portfolio valuations, cash flow and NAV projections, pricing analyses, LBOs, and waterfalls
- Assist in managing buy-side investor outreach and due diligence (e.g., data room management, GP reference calls, investor Q&A)
- Contribute to preparing responses to due diligence requests from potential secondary buyers, and coordinate information flow between selling LPs and prospective purchasers
- Communicate and collaborate regularly with Moelis' industry and financial sponsor coverage team members
- Maintain databases of secondary market transactions, LP portfolio pricing benchmarks, buy-side investors (profiles, strategies, investment preferences), and broader market data to support marketing materials and client advice
- Communicate regularly with buy-side investors (dedicated secondary funds, family offices, SWFs, insurance firms, funds-of-funds, asset managers, etc.)
- Conduct secondary market research, including tracking LP portfolio pricing, deal volumes, and liquidity trends across the alternatives industry
- Conduct ad hoc industry research
Qualifications:
- Candidates for the Analyst position should exhibit a strong history of academic achievement as well as possess the following attributes:
- Bachelor's degree required; prior internship or full-time experience in investment banking, private equity, or financial services preferred
- Basic understanding of the private equity industry and an interest in the secondaries market and institutional portfolio management
- Highly motivated individual with a strong desire to learn
- Keen attention to detail
- Strong analytical and technical skills (including experience with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word)
- Ability to think creatively in order to solve problems
- Excellent communication skills
- Organized, with good judgment and time management skills Ability to work independently and as part of a broader team
Compensation Expectations: USD $110,000–$135,000
