Position Summary
We are seeking a Software Automotive Engineer with strong expertise in Basic Software (BSW) and Real-Time Operating System (RTOS) integration for next-generation electrified propulsion systems. The role focuses on architecture, configuration, integration, and validation of embedded platform software that enables robust inverter and motor control applications in high-performance, safety-critical automotive environments.
The ideal candidate combines deep knowledge of AUTOSAR-oriented platform software, real-time scheduling, and MCU-level integration with strong automotive software engineering practices aligned with ASPICE and ISO 26262.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and implement software architecture and integration strategy for BSW and RTOS layers supporting inverter and motor control ECUs.
- Configure and integrate core platform modules, including OS services, communication stack interfaces, diagnostics interfaces, memory services, watchdog handling, and I/O abstraction.
- Design and optimize RTOS task models, priorities, activation patterns, ISR-to-task interactions, and timing budgets to ensure deterministic real-time behavior.
- Translate system and software requirements into platform-level requirements, architecture elements, and implementable designs with bidirectional traceability.
- Define and maintain interfaces across application software, BSW/MCAL, diagnostics, and communication stacks (CAN, LIN, Ethernet).
- Perform timing and performance analysis, including CPU load, task response times, interrupt latency, stack usage, and jitter; drive corrective actions where needed.
- Support multi-core execution strategies, resource sharing, synchronization mechanisms, and safe partitioning concepts for complex ECU platforms.
- Define and execute verification strategies for BSW/RTOS integration, including unit tests, SIL/HIL testing, bench validation, and integration regression testing.
- Support DV/PV activities and production readiness milestones by resolving platform-level integration issues during validation and launch phases.
- Perform root-cause analysis for functional, timing, startup, and field issues; drive corrective and preventive actions in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Contribute to reusable platform patterns, coding standards, and technical mentoring for junior engineers.
Quality, and Compliance
- Develop and integrate platform software in compliance with ASPICE SWE process areas and quality work products.
- Apply defensive coding and quality practices such as MISRA-C compliance, static analysis, and structured peer reviews.
- Support release governance with clear traceability, change impact assessment, and objective quality metrics.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, Software Engineering, or related discipline.
- 6+ years of automotive embedded software experience, including direct responsibility in BSW and RTOS integration.
- Strong understanding of AUTOSAR Classic concepts, BSW architecture, MCAL interaction, and ECU software layering principles.
- Proven hands-on experience with RTOS configuration and real-time design, including scheduling, task communication, synchronization, and interrupt handling.
- Proficiency in embedded C for production software in resource-constrained microcontroller environments.
- Experience with real-time debugging, timing analysis, and optimization on automotive MCU platforms (for example Infineon AURIX, NXP, Renesas, TI).
- Familiarity with requirements and traceability tools (for example DOORS, Polarion, Jama) and issue/version control tools (for example Git, Jira).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and cross-functional communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with inverter and e-motor control ECU integration in electrified powertrain domains.
- Experience with multi-core ECU architecture, timing isolation, and safety-oriented partitioning strategies.
- Exposure to cybersecurity process integration for embedded automotive software (ISO/SAE 21434 concepts).
- Experience with CI/CD and automated testing/reporting workflows for embedded software platforms.
- Experience supporting SOP readiness and launch stabilization for customer programs.
Key Competencies
- Systems thinking with high attention to detail in safety-critical implementation.
- Ownership mindset with the ability to balance innovation, robustness, and delivery commitments.
- Effective collaboration in global, multidisciplinary development teams.
