You as a Community Relations Coordinator will:

• Implement and update the Indigenous Benefit Plan for the project that outlines strategies for promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion, and for supporting local hiring, training, and subcontracting opportunities.
• Keep the site team up to date on community cultural events.
• Conduct cultural awareness training during orientation
• Populate and keep current the FFCP website
• Act as the cultural liaison for Indigenous workers on-site
• Build and maintain strong relationships with local communities, organizations, and businesses to promote socio-economic development and to create opportunities for underrepresented groups.
• Collaborate with project teams to ensure that socio-economic considerations are integrated into all aspects of the project, including procurement, hiring, training, and community engagement.
• Develop and implement training programs and resources to help employees and contractors improve their knowledge and skills in socio-economic areas such as diversity, inclusion, community engagement, and local hiring.
• Identify and engage with Indigenous businesses and suppliers to promote local hiring and procurement, and to create opportunities for Indigenous communities.
• Manage Pehta, which measures the impact of socio-economic initiatives on the organization, the community, and the industry, and use this data to continuously improve and refine the project's socio-economic approach.
• Develop and maintain relationships with government agencies, industry associations, and other stakeholders to stay current on best practices and trends in socio-economic development.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant policies, regulations, and standards related to socio-economic development and local hiring.
• Provide regular reports and updates to project teams, management, and stakeholders on the project's socio-economic performance, and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Act as a liaison between the project and local communities, and respond to community concerns and feedback in a timely and professional manner.
• Develop and implement initiatives that promote sustainability and environmental responsibility in the project, and that create opportunities for local businesses and communities.

Is this the right role for you? 

• You have knowledge of Indigenous cultures, traditions, and values, as well as an understanding of the socio-economic challenges faced by Indigenous communities.
• You have familiarity with relevant policies, regulations, and standards related to socio-economic development and local hiring.
• You have experience in identifying and engaging with Indigenous businesses and suppliers to promote local hiring and procurement.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
• Project Location: Moose Jaw, SK(will be required to travel to other projects sites in Saskatchewan and Manitoba)
• Must have, or be eligible for, CSID (PWSGC) Secret Level Security Clearance.
