THE ROLE:
AMD is looking for a Rack Integration Technician to support rack-level integration for next-generation AI and data center platforms. In this role, you will help build and prepare complex rack systems by supporting prototype builds, NPI activities, validation readiness, hardware installation, cabling, labeling, documentation, and configuration updates. This is a hands-on opportunity to work alongside engineering and lab teams in a fast-moving development environment where build quality, accuracy, and serviceability are critical.
THE PERSON:
The ideal candidate is a hands-on, detail-oriented technician with experience working on server, rack, or data center hardware. This person is comfortable following engineering documentation, executing build instructions accurately, identifying issues, and communicating clearly with cross-functional teams. Success in this role requires strong attention to detail, adaptability, and the ability to maintain high quality in a prototype or NPI environment with changing priorities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform hands-on rack assembly and hardware integration for AI, HPC, and data center platforms, including installing and configuring servers, trays, switches, PDUs, cables, cable management hardware, and related components
- Support prototype and NPI rack builds using rack elevations, BOMs, cable matrices, assembly instructions, and engineering documentation, while supporting rack layout verification, mechanical fit checks, cable routing validation, serviceability checks, and build quality reviews
- Route, dress, secure, and label power, copper, fiber, and management cables, and assist with system bring-up preparation, validation support, hardware swaps, configuration changes, and basic troubleshooting
- Identify and document build issues including missing parts, incorrect cabling, mechanical interference, labeling errors, or configuration mismatches, and provide feedback to engineering teams on assembly steps, cable routing, serviceability, and build process improvements
- Support BOM checks, rack elevation updates, cable matrix verification, redlines, photo documentation, build records, and rack rework, retrofit, and configuration updates based on engineering direction
- Follow lab safety, ESD, tool control, and material handling practices, and work closely with engineers, technicians, manufacturing partners, and lab teams to support build schedules and integration milestones
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Experience in rack integration, system assembly, server hardware, data center hardware, NPI builds, hardware validation support, or related technical work
- Hands-on experience installing rack-level hardware, cables, labels, mechanical components, and power distribution equipment
- Familiarity with rack layouts, cable routing, cable labeling, hardware configuration, serviceability, and data center hardware
- Ability to read and follow BOMs, rack elevations, cable matrices, assembly instructions, work instructions, and engineering documentation
- Experience using hand tools, torque tools, ESD equipment, labeling tools, and basic lab equipment
- Ability to identify build issues, document findings clearly, and escalate problems appropriately
- Strong attention to detail, organization, communication, teamwork, and follow-through skills
- Ability to work effectively in a prototype, NPI, validation, or rack integration environment with changing priorities
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Associate degree, technical diploma, military technical training, or equivalent hands-on technical experience preferred
This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
