Brown & Brown is seeking an Employee Benefits Operations Specialist to join our growing team in Ft. Lauderdale, FL!

The Primary responsibility of this position is to assist external clients in the implementation.

How You Will Contribute: 

  • Manage end-to-end client onboarding and implementation, serving as the primary vendor contact during the first 30 days and ensuring all lines of coverage (including COBRA) are set up accurately.
  • Oversee Broker of Record (BOR) processing across all markets, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and proper submission to carriers.
  • Conduct client benefit discussions, secure sign-off on implementation documents, and submit all required documentation to carriers.
  • Manage, monitor, and track new business implementations, including verification of plan benefits sold, rates, paperwork accuracy, and overall coverage alignment.
  • Review and analyze policies, benefit summaries, SPDs, forms, and rates to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Collaborate with Producers, Benefits Consultants, and Service Team members to develop implementation strategies and timelines, while maintaining strong relationships with carriers, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Utilize the Agency Management System in accordance with company policies and standards.
  • Administer operational infrastructure, including managing carrier portal access (user setup/termination) and maintaining accurate carrier contact sheets and escalation paths.
  • Oversee file and documentation management, ensuring consistent folder organization, accessibility, and accuracy across all client and internal records.
  • Support team onboarding and training, including new hire system training (e.g., BAM), onboarding logistics (calendar setup, email standards, introductions), onboarding surveys, and ongoing education through training materials, quizzes, and participation tracking.

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Life, Health, and Annuity License (within 12 months of employment)
  • Insurance Carrier/HR background (preferred)
  • CEBS designation (preferred)

Skills & Experience to be Successful:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • Clear knowledge of Group Benefit Plans.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to write and verbally communicate in a professional manner.
  • Proficient in MS Excel and MS Word
  • 2-3 years’ Agency experience
  • College Degree (preferred)
  • MS Power Point (preferred)
