Manager, Specialist Sales, Acceptance & Merchant Solutions SEAOverviewMastercard is seeking a strategic, commercially driven professional to join our Customer Solutions Center (CSC) team as Manager, Sales Specialist, Acceptance and Merchant Solutions in Thailand. This role is key to accelerating Mastercard’s acceptance and gateway strategy in one of Southeast Asia’s most dynamic and fast-growing digital commerce markets.
The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in online payments, payment gateways, merchant acquiring and payment facilitation, with a strong track record of commercial deal-making, solution selling, and driving revenue growth.
Reporting to the Director, Specialist Sales, Acceptance and Merchant Solutions SEA, you will work closely with acquirers, payment gateways, payment facilitators, merchants, regulators, and ecosystem partners to scale Mastercard’s acceptance, gateway, and digital payment capabilities across Southeast Asia.
The Role
1. Lead Gateway Sales and Drive Revenue Growth (Primary Focus)
• Drive Mastercard’s gateway (Merchant Cloud) and digital acceptance growth by identifying, prioritizing, and winning commercial opportunities with Payment gateways, Payment facilitators (PayFacs, acquiring banks, and large online and omni channel merchants).
• Lead the full sales cycle: prospecting, solution positioning, deal negotiation, contracting, and go to-market execution.
• Develop data driven business cases to support gateway partnerships, optimizing for volume growth, conversion, and profitability.
• Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., pricing, legal, product) to deliver commercially sound proposals aligned with Mastercard’s strategic objectives.
2. Strengthen Mastercard’s Acceptance and Digital Commerce Strategy in Thailand
• Lead initiatives to expand Mastercard acceptance in key sectors such as e commerce, mobility, food delivery, retail, travel, SMEs, and the emerging digital ecosystem.
• Analyze competitive offerings, customer pain points, and market trends to develop actionable strategies and ensure Mastercard’s leadership in Thailand’s acceptance landscape.
3. Engage and Support Country & Regional Sales Teams
• Act as the product and solution subject matter expert for Thailand, supporting account teams with product enablement, sales tools and training, solution positioning, and pricing and commercial structuring.
• Provide field insights to regional product teams to influence product enhancements and localization needs.
4. Build Strong Relationships with Acquirers, Gateways, and Merchants
• Develop and nurture relationships with major acquiring banks, local and regional payment gateways, PayFacs, high potential merchants
• Understand their challenges and commercial priorities; proactively identify opportunities for Mastercard’s solutions to create value and drive volume.
5. Proactively Engage Customers to Maximize Success
• Conduct regular business reviews with customers to drive performance, solve issues, and unlock new opportunities.
• Ensure Mastercard maintains a reputation as a trusted solution and advisory partner across Thailand’s digital payments ecosystem.
All about You
The ideal candidate should possess the following:
• Experienced in strategic acquirer or merchant partnership business development.
• Strong knowledge of online payments, gateways, acquiring, and PayFac models with relevant payment industry experience.
• Demonstrated ability to manage the full sales cycle and close complex, high-value deals
• Proven success in building and converting a strong pipeline and winning new business opportunities.
• Experience engaging senior stakeholders and building strategic ecosystem partnerships
• Strong commercial acumen with the ability to manage negotiations of agreements involving complex commercial models.
• Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret performance metrics and offers using data-driven insight.
• Familiarity with Thailand and/or Southeast Asia payments landscape
• Excellent communication, relationship-building, and stakeholder management skills across diverse cultures.
• Proven ability to establish collaborative working relationships and drive business objectives across cross-functional teams.
