The Specialist Hand Surgeon is responsible for providing comprehensive diagnostic, surgical, and non-surgical management of patients with congenital, traumatic, degenerative, inflammatory, and reconstructive conditions affecting the hand, wrist, and upper extremity. The role includes emergency and elective surgical care, outpatient consultations, inpatient management, multidisciplinary collaboration, teaching, and participation in quality improvement initiatives while complying with UAE healthcare regulations and government hospital standards.
Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with hand, wrist, and upper extremity disorders.
Perform elective and emergency hand surgery procedures, including trauma, tendon, nerve, ligament, microsurgical, and reconstructive surgeries.
Manage fractures, dislocations, soft tissue injuries, congenital hand deformities, arthritis, and peripheral nerve disorders.
Provide pre-operative assessment, informed consent, operative care, and post-operative follow-up.
Conduct outpatient clinics and inpatient ward rounds.
Participate in emergency on-call and trauma services as scheduled.
Collaborate with emergency physicians, plastic surgeons, orthopaedic surgeons, anaesthetists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and nursing staff.
Develop individualized treatment and rehabilitation plans to optimize patient outcomes.
Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical records.
Ensure compliance with infection prevention, patient safety, and clinical governance standards.
Participate in morbidity and mortality meetings, departmental audits, and quality improvement projects.
Supervise and teach junior doctors, residents, interns, and allied healthcare professionals.
