Description

Hi there! Thanks for stopping by 👋

Are you actively looking for a new opportunity? Or just checking the market? Well… you might just be in the right place!

We're looking for an exceptional Product Manager III to own the strategy and execution of the payments experience for Lightspeed's flagship hospitality platform. In this role, you'll navigate the complexity of payment infrastructure while obsessing over the human experience of paying for a meal. Whether it's enabling a server to split a check across multiple cards or ensuring a guest can tap and go in seconds, you'll build solutions that make the checkout moment reliable, intuitive, and effortless.

You'll lead a cross-functional squad of design, content design, user experience research, engineering, and quality partners to define and deliver a multi-quarter strategy for one of the most business-critical surfaces in the restaurant experience. This role sits at the intersection of merchant workflows, guest experience, payment infrastructure, and commercial outcomes, and requires strong product judgment, comfort with ambiguity, and the ability to drive alignment across multiple teams and senior stakeholders.

We're looking for someone who can operate at two altitudes equally well: setting strategy for the future of checkout while also diving deeply into the product details that make or break the everyday experience. The right PM will not stay at the roadmap level. They will immerse themselves in the full product experience, develop strong points of view on the details, and confidently own the many small but important product decisions that shape quality, clarity, and trust.

What You'll Do

  • Deeply understand how payment flows impact restaurant operations, from a server taking payment tableside to a manager reconciling at day's end.
  • Become deeply fluent in the end-to-end Lightspeed's checkout experience, including edge cases, operational workflows, and the small interaction details that matter to restaurant staff and guests.
  • Define and evolve a comprehensive product strategy and roadmap that addresses the full payment journey, from payment method setup and selection through authorization, capture, settlement, and reconciliation across surfaces.
  • Partner closely with design to make the complexity of payments feel natural and intuitive for both restaurant staff and guests.
  • Navigate the technical complexity of payment systems, including close collaboration with internal payments, finance, compliance, legal, and support teams, and occasional interaction with external processors and hardware partners.
  • Drive principled tradeoffs across customer experience, operational complexity, technical constraints, regulatory requirements, and business impact.
  • Own product decisions directly and consistently, while using design, research, and engineering as thought partners in the process.
  • Bring a clear point of view to both strategic priorities and granular product experience decisions, grounded in customer context, product knowledge, and sound judgment.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce payment friction through product decisions around retry strategies, error handling, recovery flows, and success optimization.
  • Define success metrics and use data to continuously monitor and improve authorization rates, conversion, failure rates, support burden, and the end-to-end product experience for the user.
  • Lead discovery to understand payment pain points across restaurant segments, service models, and geographies.
  • Establish clear prioritization across roadmap work, incremental improvements, and the operational issues that inevitably arise in a high-stakes payments domain.
  • Manage the product development lifecycle from concept through launch and iteration, ensuring high-quality delivery while maintaining strategic focus.
  • Stay current with payment trends, evolving customer expectations, and regulatory requirements across our global markets to keep K-Series competitive and compliant.

About You

You believe that great payment experiences are invisible: they just work. You're energized by making complex systems feel simple, and you understand that every payment interaction is an opportunity to build or lose trust with our customers.

Background and Experience

  • 6+ years of product management experience building complex software products, with scope and ownership consistent with a senior individual contributor.
  • Experience owning customer-facing or workflow-heavy product areas where reliability, usability, and business outcomes are all critical to success.
  • Concrete experience in hospitality, restaurant technology, or another merchant workflow environment is strongly preferred.
  • Strong experience in payments, fintech, commerce, or another compliance-sensitive or transaction-heavy domain.
  • Strong understanding of product discovery, roadmap development, experimentation, and iterative delivery.
  • Demonstrated success developing deep product knowledge quickly and using it to make better decisions, not just better plans.
  • Experience working with external partners, vendors, or platform providers to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Strong familiarity with payment processing concepts such as authorization, capture, settlement, and reconciliation.
  • Familiarity with payment security standards and compliance requirements, and the ability to translate them into strong product decisions.

Strengths and Skills

  • Strong product judgment and comfort operating in ambiguous problem spaces without predefined answers.
  • A habit of going deep into the product itself and forming a clear point of view on the details, not just the high-level direction.
  • Technical acumen to engage meaningfully with engineers on system architecture, system constraints, and implementation tradeoffs.
  • Excellent design partnership skills and a habit of exploring solutions from first principles.
  • Outstanding written communication, particularly in documenting strategy, requirements, decisions, and context for cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent stakeholder management across teams, functions, and levels of seniority.
  • A proactive ownership mindset: you identify problems before they escalate and drive solutions without waiting to be asked.
  • Strong prioritization skills and the confidence to make many small but meaningful product decisions in a fast-moving environment.
  • Comfort switching between strategic thinking and hands-on product problem solving without losing effectiveness at either level.
  • A collaborative leadership style that raises the quality of thinking and execution across your squad and partner teams.

How You'll Know You're Successful

  • Your squad operates with clarity and purpose, with a shared understanding of how its work connects to restaurant success and company goals.
  • You set a clear direction for the payments experience and align partner teams around shared priorities and tradeoffs.
  • Your roadmap drives measurable improvements in payment performance, including higher success rates, fewer failures, faster and more reliable checkout experiences, and fewer support issues.
  • You are trusted by your squad and partner teams to make clear product decisions, including the detailed decisions that keep execution moving and the experience coherent.
  • You develop a strong command of the product quickly and use that depth to improve both strategy and day-to-day decision quality.
  • Restaurant staff find payments easier and more reliable, while guests enjoy smooth, modern checkout experiences.
  • You influence decisions beyond your immediate squad when checkout and payment experience tradeoffs affect the broader platform.
