Job Description:
The TD Wealth Investment Manager Research ("IMR") team is TD Bank Financial Group's center of excellence for product research management and subject matter expert relating to all managed investment products.
IMR is responsible and accountable for curating Preferred Lists across all managed investment product types, such as mutual funds, exchange traded funds and separately managed accounts along with onboarding and providing oversight for all products that are available for sale within TD Wealth. Further, IMR provides strategic insights for TD Wealth's distribution businesses including Financial Planning, Private Trust, Private Wealth Management and Direct Investing.
The team blends a strong due diligence approach with thought leadership to help drive business results across TD Wealth distribution channels. IMR has an open and collaborative culture that supports career development, diversity and work/life balance.
Job Responsibilities:
The Associate role is multi-faceted, though the primary responsibility is to assist with IMR's alternative investments due diligence accountabilities, that include active participation and documentation of investment manager due diligence reviews, preparing research materials, and assisting in the analysis and evaluation of asset management firms and mandates available across TD Wealth's business lines.
Other key accountabilities include:
- Develop an in-depth knowledge of the global alternative investment landscape and top-tier alternative investment managers and their strategies.
- Responsible for completion of initial and ongoing due diligence research reports and/or any meeting minutes along with ensuring that research materials are fulsome, up-to-date and easily accessible.
- Develop an in-depth knowledge of existing tools that support the team’s investment manager research function and assist in the development of new research tools/reports.
- Assist in the ongoing maintenance and enhancement of the IMR websites, internal databases and Preferred List materials.
- Prepare and execute the team's reporting accountabilities as well as collaborate on various ad-hoc projects.
- Demonstrate a high degree of professionalism when dealing with internal and external business partners.
Job Requirements:
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of progressive experience in the financial services industry
- Completion of Level 2 of the CFA program
- University degree in a related discipline
- Experience in alternative investments, preferably in alternative investment manager research
- Intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, eagerness to learn and strong attention to detail
- Collaborative and adaptive in a work environment that is both independent and team based, to execute across a wide spectrum of accountabilities
- Working knowledge of manager research software (Morningstar Direct, FactSet, eVestment or Bloomberg) would be considered a plus
- Effective oral and written communication skills (experience with writing/editing publications would be an asset)
- Aptitude to communicate and confidently interact with internal and external parties
- Ability to gather and share relevant industry information/developments and provide a fact based opinions and recommendations
