As an NVIDIAN, you’ll be immersed in a diverse, supportive environment where everyone is inspired to do their best work. Come join the team and see how you can make a lasting impact on the world.
NVIDIA's Switch Architecture group is hiring a junior Firmware Architect for the Advanced Development team. The team works on early-stage exploration of switching technologies — implementing proof-of-concept firmware, building simulation tools for pre-silicon architecture decisions, and turning open questions into detailed technical findings. You will run proof-of-concept explorations and contribute to an architectural simulator that develops design choices before silicon. At NVIDIA, we are at the forefront of innovation, leading the way in computer graphics, AI, and accelerated computing. Our collaborative environment, combined with ambitious goals, will enable you to work closely with ASIC and software teams to pioneer innovative solutions.
What you will be doing:
- Implement firmware proof-of-concept code to assess new switching technologies, protocols, and architectural approaches
- Contribute to an in-house architecture simulator used for pre-silicon build exploration and latency modeling
- Collaborate with ASIC architects and firmware engineers to translate architectural decisions into working prototypes
- Document proof-of-concept outcomes and help translate findings into actionable team decisions
- Identify promising technologies and innovation opportunities aligned with our networking roadmap
- Creating AI and agentic frameworks for Firmware Architecture Group
- If you love turning open-ended technical questions into real, working code — this is the role for you!
What we need to see:
- B.Sc. in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science (excellent grades)
- Experience in firmware, embedded systems, or systems programming
- Strong coding skills and ability to implement from scratch at the proof-of-concept level or with equivalent experience
- Ability to work independently, reason through ambiguity, and turn experimental results into actionable insights
Ways to stand out from the crowd:
- Experience writing firmware or low-level C/C++ code
- Coursework or projects in computer architecture, simulation, or performance modeling
- Intellectual curiosity about how hardware and software meet in the networking stack
- Experience with networking protocols (Ethernet, IP, data-center fabrics)
