McGill University's Department of Jewish Studies is seeking a Course Lecturer for JWST 261: History of Jewish Philosophy and Thought for the Fall 2026 term. This part-time, in-person position involves teaching an introductory survey from the Hellenistic period to the modern era, focusing on key thinkers and themes. The role requires an advanced degree in Jewish Studies and knowledge of Hebrew and Arabic. The instructor will be responsible for delivering the course in English at the Leacock Building. JWST 261 -History of Jewish Philosophy and Thought
An introduction to Jewish philosophy and thought from the Hellenistic period (Philo) to the beginning of the modern era (Spinoza) focusing on topics such as prophecy and philosophy, God and the world; the Law as a canon of ethical rules and as a political constitution. Survey of the treatment of such issues by Jewish thinkers from Philo to Maimonides.

Teaching Qualification Requirements:
Education: Advanced degree in Jewish Studies
Experience: Knowledge of Hebrew and Arabic. Extensive research in Jewish Thought.
