Job Description:
Airbus Helicopters is looking for a Long-term Intern (multi semester) to join our Facilities Maintenance Team based in Grand Prairie, TX.
The Facilities Intern will provide comprehensive support to the Facilities Management team at Airbus Helicopters, Inc. This role assists in optimizing facility operations through engineering-based asset management, technical space planning using AutoCAD, project coordination, and service desk support. The ideal candidate will contribute to sustainability initiatives and infrastructure improvements, gaining hands-on experience in industrial facilities management and engineering operations.

Your Challenges:
Primary Responsibilities:
- Asset Management Support (30%): Identify installed building equipment and facilities assets; collect nameplate data and photographs; research and identify checklists, procedures, or existing templates for Preventative Maintenance (PM) job plans; enter data and PM job plans into SAP; verify PM schedules and update as directed; tag assets accordingly.
- Facility Work Order Analysis (25%): Evaluate and report status and trends of work orders from SAP; identify and analyze work order deficiencies, identify root causes of repeat failures, evaluate maintenance metrics.
- Project Management Support (20%): Assist in tracking project timelines and milestones; coordinate communication between stakeholders and contractors; maintain project documentation; prepare status reports for facility infrastructure projects.
- Engineering Operations & Sustainability (15%): Assist with facility audits; support energy efficiency initiatives or MEP system analysis; perform other duties as assigned by the Facilities/Security management team.
- AutoCAD & Space Planning Support (10%): Utilize AutoCAD to maintain and update facility floor plans and building schematics; assist in space utilization studies and layout optimization projects.
Your Boarding Pass:
Required:
- Must be currently local to the DFW metro area as this is a long-term/multi-semester onsite work opportunity
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science (BS) or Associates degree in Engineering or related field.
- Demonstrated interest in building maintenance, facility management, architectural drafting, repair shop (tooling), or construction, evidenced by previous part-time or summer work - OR - completion of at least two semesters of related technical or academic training.
- Eligible for employment in the US. Options include: US Person under ITAR definition (U.S. Citizen, green card holder, or person covered under an existing ITAR license); authorized to work in the US; or able to work in the US without current or future need for visa sponsorship.
- Must be computer literate (Familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point or similar Google software applications)
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
Preferred:
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD
Physical Requirements:
- Onsite 100% of the time.
- Vision: able to see and read computer screens and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings several times a week.
- Hearing: able to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on the production floor including safety warnings or alarms on a daily basis.
- Speaking: able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications daily.
- Equipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts on a daily basis.
- Carrying: able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs on a daily basis.
- Lifting: able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs on a daily basis.
- Pushing / Pulling: able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools on a daily basis.
- Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on the computer on a daily basis.
- Squatting / Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving.
- Standing: able to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor on a daily basis.
- Walking (include routine walking such as to a shared printer to retrieve documents): able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces on a daily basis.
- Personal Protective Equipment required: Required PPE includes, but is not limited to, Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Respirators/Masks, and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site
- Administrative position only PPE required: Steel-toed shoes are required for all shop floor visits, appropriate hearing/eye protection may also be required when visiting the shop floor.
