In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with a dynamic team of highly dedicated and committed professionals in support of our Canadian Pipelines (SELC North) and East Tank Farm (ETF) operations, projects and maintenance organizations. You will be responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and sustainment of Health and Safety (H&S) and provide technical expertise and out of the box solutions. You will support the Joint Health and Safety Committee and the Suncor Health & Safety and Incident Management processes.

Minimum Requirements:
- 5 years experience with a technical background in Health & Safety, strong leadership skills; demonstrated experience leading safety management programs
- Post-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) or related field
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Experience conducting hazard assessments, incident investigations, analyses, audits and assessments
- Intermediate level proficiency with MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel

Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with all levels of leadership to support the design of H&S programs, procedures, safe work practices, orientations, initiatives, etc
- Interpret and apply federal and local health and safety regulations that govern the activities, products and services to assist leaders in reflecting due diligence in decision-making
- Participate in incident investigations and provide incident owners with a full debrief in findings with a continuous improvement mindset to provide solutions to prevent potential issues in the future
- Mentor owners of incidents in cause and corrective action factors
- Support capital projects, operations and maintenance scopes of work while you ensure compliance with our standards and federal and local regulatory requirements
- Assist in leading contractor safety program through site-based meetings and field validations of contractor hazard assessments
- Technical writing, including editing processes, procedures, plans and reports
- Understanding of human and organizational performance (HOP) principles to support Suncor's safety culture
Location and other Key details:
- You will work out of our SELC Voyager site in Fort McMurray, Alberta
- Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs, including being on-call and night shifts as necessary during large scale outages, and/or emergencies
- There is an RMT on call requirement for this position. The position is required to be on call one out of every five weeks
- You will be required to perform some heavy lifting, use ladders and work on elevated work sites such as scaffolds and towers with the ability to perform in a variety of different environments both indoor and outdoor as well as within confined spaces
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract and ability to travel to field locations as required
- Our business professional roles follow internal compensation guidelines, and the pay band will be based on years of experience and scope of work
