This role involves managing a team responsible for the maintenance and control of legal entity books and records, providing services for a global entity population. The candidate will manage and maintain books of account for various entities, focusing on New York/EMEA/APAC entities, and collaborate with colleagues in Finance and across the Firm. Responsibilities include month-end processes, balance sheet and P&L analysis, stakeholder management, and supporting entity setup/closing. We are seeking someone to join our team as Associate in our Mumbai office, as part of expanding an existing team in our Mumbai office, with controllership responsibility. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of shaping a relatively new function and driving the development of the staff and team. Accounting and Control Team is responsible for maintenance and control of books and records of the Firm's legal entities. This team is Centralized team in Mumbai that provide services (reporting production, books and records controls) for global entity population and global LEC teams.
This role will be to manage a team in Mumbai, and to have responsibility for managing and maintaining books of account for various entities, reporting locally to a Senior manager/ Director in Mumbai and with functional oversight from management in Glasgow. The focus of this role will be on New York/ EMEA/ APAC based entities. The candidate will be required to work with staff in Glasgow to help support our business unit colleagues in other Firm offices.
In the Finance division, we act as a partner to business units around the globe by providing management, review, analysis, and advisory services of the Firm's financial and capital resources.
This is a director level position within our Risk, Assurance, Governance & Control Job Family which provides oversight and monitoring of operational risk or third party/outsourcing for the global Finance division, validation and testing of financial and regulatory reports and reinforcement of regulatory requirements, policies and procedures.

What you'll do in the role:
- Collaborate with a varied group of colleagues in Finance and across the Firm
- Responsible for and lead a significant set of deliverables, leveraging advanced understanding of Finance functional area, product and/or client segment
- Proactively identify emerging risks in individual and department work and contribute to strategies for mitigating them
- Act as a role model and culture carrier; Embody and set an example of the Firm's values and hold yourself and others accountable to Firm standards
- \Preparation of timely, relevant and value-added information on entities, both local and functional, including
- Month end process including accruals, reconciliations (Intercompany, Bank, control accounts), Transfer pricing calculations, booking of GAAP adjustments etc.
- Monthly Balance Sheet and P&L GL analysis and review.
- Preparing detailed variance analysis report and provide necessary commentaries to substantiate the movements.
- Stakeholders Management (Resolving Queries and providing data and presenting to senior management)
- Supporting Business Units / Legal Entity Controllers in the setup, opening & closing of entities and adapting the entity's ledgers and system requirements.
- Managing Various Central Functions including Corporate actions, FX, CTA etc.
- The role will also require participation in the development of the LEC function in Mumbai, involving.
- Re-engineering and standardization of processes as required
- Supporting the Business Units in the setup, opening & closing of entities and adapting the entity's ledgers and system requirements.
- Ongoing entity-specific initiatives and projects
- Contributing to the reporting control framework, ensuring compliance to client requirements and internal policy

- Candidates for the role should hold an Accounting /Finance degree or equivalent, and have an understanding of the balance sheet.
- Candidates should possess excellent Microsoft Excel skills and be proficient in data mining and summarizing and presenting themes and results in a meaningful format.
- Knowledge of financial products which are used in the financial services industry, such as securities lending and repos, and an awareness of the issues would be preferred.
- At least 2 years' relevant experience would generally be expected to find the skills required for this role
