Description

Logitech is the Sweet Spot for people who want their actions to have a positive global impact while having the flexibility to do it in their own way.

The role and team:

Logitech is seeking a Lead Motor and Drive Engineer to lead the design, development, and integration of motorized actuation systems for innovative consumer and professional products. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer with deep expertise in motors, drive electronics, motion control, and mechatronic system integration.

As a Lead Motor and Drive Engineer, you will own the technical development of motor and drive subsystems from early concept through production launch. You will work across mechanical, electrical, embedded software, systems, reliability, sourcing, and manufacturing teams to deliver motion solutions that are high performing, reliable, quiet, efficient, and manufacturable at scale.

Your Contribution:
Be Yourself. Be Open. Stay Hungry and Humble. Collaborate. Challenge. Decide and just Do. Share our passion for Equality and the Environment. These are the behaviors and values you’ll need for success at Logitech. In this role you will:

  • Lead the architecture, design, and development of motor and drive systems for Logitech products.
  • Define subsystem requirements for torque, speed, efficiency, acoustics, thermal behavior, lifetime, and controllability.
  • Select and develop motors, geartrains, encoders, sensors, drivers, and power electronics to meet product needs.
  • Design and optimize motion control solutions for performance, reliability, noise, vibration, power consumption, and cost.
  • Partner with embedded software and electrical engineering teams on motor control algorithms, feedback systems, and drive implementation.
  • Support system modeling, simulation, prototyping, characterization, and design validation.
  • Lead tradeoff analysis across actuator performance, packaging constraints, user experience, reliability, and manufacturability.
  • Drive root-cause analysis and problem resolution for issues related to motion quality, thermal behavior, EMC, durability, and field performance.
  • Develop validation plans, test methods, and acceptance criteria for motor and drive subsystems.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to define specifications, review designs, qualify components, and improve subsystem performance.
  • Ensure designs meet regulatory, safety, and quality requirements where applicable.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation including requirements, design reviews, FMEAs, test reports, and production specifications.
  • Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership across mechatronic subsystem development.

Key Qualifications:
For consideration, you must bring the following minimum skills and experiences to our team:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Power Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in motor, actuator, or drive system development.
  • Strong knowledge of DC motors, BLDC motors, stepper motors, servo systems, and related drive architectures.
  • Experience with motor control principles including closed-loop control, feedback systems, and performance tuning
  • Strong understanding of power electronics, motor drivers, sensing, and actuator integration.
  • Experience with mechatronic system design, including interactions between mechanical, electrical, and software elements.
  • Familiarity with simulation and analysis tools for motion systems, thermal behavior, and dynamic performance
  • Experience defining and executing validation plans for motor and drive performance, reliability, and production readiness.
  • Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills in complex hardware systems.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in cross-functional product development environments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in consumer electronics, robotics, haptics, camera motion systems, smart devices, or precision actuation products.
  • Familiarity with FOC, PID control tuning, encoder integration, current sensing, and sensorless control methods.
  • Experience with low-noise and low-vibration motion system design.
  • Understanding of geartrain design, backlash, efficiency, and mechanical transmission tradeoffs.
  • Experience with battery-powered systems and power optimization.
  • Familiarity with EMC/EMI considerations in motor drive systems.
  • Experience with supplier development and high-volume manufacturing support.
  • Knowledge of DFM, DFA, DFMEA, PFMEA, and production test methods
  • Experience leading subsystem development from concept through mass production.

What Success Looks Like

In this role, success means delivering motor and drive systems that are:

  • Smooth, responsive, and consistent in user experience
  • Reliable over product lifetime and across use environments
  • Quiet, efficient, and thermally well managed
  • Well integrated into the full mechatronic system
  • Scalable and robust for high-volume production

Key Competencies

  • Technical leadership
  • Systems thinking
  • Cross-functional collaboration
  • Structured problem-solving
  • Product development ownership
  • Attention to detail
  • Mentorship and team support
  • Strong engineering judgment
