Position Summary
Supports the development, optimization, and maintenance of data queries and analytics pipelines that power the Predictive Dairy Solutions platform. Works within cross-functional teams consisting of business leaders, data scientists, dairy industry experts, and technology implementation specialists to understand commercial and scientific objectives and translate them into efficient, performant data solutions. Responsible for writing, tuning, and managing SQL queries and data transformations that underpin dairy predictive algorithms and customer-facing analytics. Must be able to work with business stakeholders (internal and external) to review and refine data requirements, validate outputs, and ensure the accuracy and consistency of information flowing through the platform.
Holds responsibility for ensuring data quality and compliance with established protocols for product implementation, actively identifying and resolving data integrity issues. Requires strong capabilities in desktop manipulation of large, and sometimes complex, datasets. Expertise in database querying, query optimization, data mapping, and lifecycle management will be critical. Must be able to work effectively in a dynamic work environment managing and prioritizing multiple concurrent projects. The successful candidate balances the need for collaboration with independent effort to ensure timely delivery of business needs.
Position Responsibilities
- Design, write, and optimize SQL queries that power dairy predictive algorithms and customer-facing platform analytics, ensuring peak performance and efficiency.
- Support the deployment and lifecycle management of dairy analytics and predictive algorithms by preparing, validating, and transforming input data and reviewing algorithm outputs for internal consistency.
- Perform data mapping and modeling exercises to translate business and scientific requirements into accurate data and analytic specifications for technical development teams.
- Perform quality checks on available data to ensure completeness, internal consistency, and suitability for use in production models and customer-facing outputs.
- Prepare documentation and technical specifications describing data structures, query logic, data flows, and process details for business and technical stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate logs of pending and completed projects to support accurate prioritization of effort. Actively manage pending requests and reprioritization in consultation with department-level and business leadership as business needs evolve globally.
- Collaborate with R&D and data science teams to support scientific innovation by ensuring the data infrastructure enables rapid iteration on dairy algorithms and models.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Animal Science, Computer Science, Information Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience with relational SQL databases, including query writing, optimization, and performance tuning (required).
- 2+ years of animal agriculture (especially dairy) experience or demonstrated familiarity with animal agriculture data ecosystems.
- Business or data analyst experience covering requirements gathering through to solution delivery is preferred.
- Ability to provide data analysis for multiple projects concurrently.
- Excellent data organizational skills required.
- Strong communication skills are essential.
- Ability to work across time zones in support of global business units and development teams.
Technical Skills
- Advanced SQL proficiency required, including experience with query optimization and performance tuning.
- Microsoft Excel or related experience is required.
- Experience with dairy software platforms including DC305, Bovisync, PCDart, or DHIPlus and understanding of underlying data elements is preferred.
- Experience with systems such as Databricks, data lakes, or data warehouses is preferred.
- Experience with Python or other scripting languages is preferred.
- Experience with AI-supported technical implementation is preferred.
- Familiarity with data visualization tools is a plus.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $115,000 - $170,000. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the base pay target range for new hire salaries for the position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
This position is also eligible for short-term incentive compensation
