Position Summary: (Overview of key purpose and accountability of the role)
The primary accountabilities of the position include dynamic monitoring of counterparty performance as it relates to the assessment and management of counterparty borrower risk. Recommend for approval counterparty credit risk exposures and credit related documentation and collateral term to TDS CRM / RM in accordance with the TDS Credit Policy Manual and TDGF Credit Risk Management Policy.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Primary credit liaison with the front office trading staff
- Acting as a ‘team player’ to assist the successful operation of the team as a unit providing support to senior management as necessary
- Assisting senior management in working with the front office on vanilla trades and new products
- Assisting senior management in working closely with the front office on systems issues, to ensure the front office and credit systems work in tandem and reflect the risks correctly
- Meeting external clients with senior management to assist in the due diligence process and gather information for annual reviews
- Conducting risk assessment in new and renewal credit reviews and liaising with the industry specialist teams in Toronto and New York in the preparation and recommendation of credit reviews.
- Conducting appropriate due diligence on such counterparties through investigating and meeting them as necessary.
- Conducting peer group, sector and country risk analysis as required to determine the acceptability of such counterparties.
- Ensuring that the credit risk is consistent with bank policy, risk appetite, and good market practice.
- Recommending decline of unacceptable facility requests.
- Structuring facility requests to minimise risk exposure to the bank where the risk is otherwise deemed to be unacceptably high (e.g., M2M collateralised trading, trading against initial margin).
- Assisting in the development of operating systems and control procedures for enhancing TDGF’s ability to monitor risk exposures.
- Ensuring that counterparty risk is adequately monitored with appropriate action recommended.
- Assisting in review of the TDGF counterparty credit risk portfolio as required.
- Monitoring compliance with credit limits:
- Investigating excess positions and reporting them promptly to senior management and Group Risk Management monitoring dealing positions against counterparty and country limits as necessary.
- Assisting senior management in carrying out system/credit/policy related projects
- Demonstrate governance, control and risk management behaviours in alignment with TD policies and practices.
Risk Management Responsibilities:
- Responsible for identifying and reporting Operational Risk Events in accordance with policy
- Responsible, along with all colleagues, to contribute in a positive way to TDGF's reputation and the management of Reputational Risk.
