We deliver best-in-class external and internal communications to help differentiate TD in the market and elevate our brand.
Role Overview
We’re looking for a strategic, hands-on communications advisor to the Chief Technology Officer to help shape the enterprise technology narrative at a pivotal time. This person will play a central role in advancing the CTO’s key priorities by translating complex technology initiatives into clear, credible communications and driving this strategy forward with media, industry stakeholders, colleagues, and executives.
Operating at the intersection of reputation, risk, and change, the role provides expert counsel in high‑stakes environments, shaping how the organization positions and navigates complex technology, cyber, and transformation initiatives externally and with senior stakeholders.
Accountabilities:
Executive Advisory & Strategic Counsel
- Act as a trusted advisor to the CTO and senior leaders, shaping narratives and advising on communications strategies tied to technology modernization and transformation outcomes.
- Provide real-time counsel on reputational risk, external implications, and stakeholder impact, particularly during periods of change or uncertainty.
- Support leadership positioning, including key messages and executive engagement in high-visibility contexts.
Transformation & Modernization Communications
- Lead integrated communications strategies supporting enterprise technology transformation (e.g., modernization, cyber security uplift).
- Guide leaders through complex, multi-year change, ensuring messaging is clear, credible, and aligned to business outcomes.
- Position transformation progress externally, reinforcing confidence, transparency, and forward momentum.
Issues Management & External Communications
- Own communications for issues management, advising leaders and coordinating responses for sensitive, fast-moving, or reputationally significant situations.
- Anticipate and mitigate reputational risk associated with technology and cyber domains.
- Advance proactive external storytelling that strengthens understanding of technology strategy, modernization progress, and impact.
Narrative & Content Leadership
- Translate complex technical and cyber topics into clear, authoritative communications for executive and external audiences.
- Deliver concise, high-quality content aligned to enterprise narrative and external expectations.
Enterprise Alignment
- Partner across Communications and Technology teams to ensure consistent, enterprise-wide positioning.
- Influence in a matrixed environment, aligning stakeholders to a unified narrative.
What you’ll bring:
- Deep experience in executive and strategic communications, with a strong track record advising senior leaders.
- Proven capability leading communications through enterprise transformation and technology modernization initiatives.
- Significant experience in issues management and reputational risk, including high-pressure or externally visible situations.
- Strong external orientation, including media positioning and stakeholder engagement.
Capabilities
- Exceptional judgment and advisory strength, with the ability to influence decisions in complex, time-sensitive environments.
- Advanced ability to simplify and translate complex technology and cyber concepts into clear, credible messaging.
- Strong understanding of technology, cyber security, and associated risk dynamics.
- Ability to lead through influence across a large, matrixed organization.
What success looks like:
You’re a thoughtful senior communications professional with strong instincts, sharp judgment and a high bar for quality. You know how to simplify technical complexity without losing accuracy, and you’re comfortable advising leaders through both proactive priorities and sensitive issues. You build trust quickly, work well across functions, and bring calm, clarity and credibility to fast-moving situations. You’re energized by the opportunity to support a high-profile technology portfolio and help shape how important work is understood inside and outside the organization.
