People Operations Partner
Mission
LENS’s mission is to end traffic accidents. LENS prevents accidents and saves lives by detecting hazards to prevent accidents before they happen.
Platform & Product
LENS Detect scans CCTV feeds on highways to identify hazards, in real-time, before they become accidents. Public Safety agencies, alongside Departments of Transportation, receive alerts on the LENS Detect dashboard about Disabled Vehicles, Stalled Big Rigs, and Pedestrians on Freeway. A dispatcher reviews and validates the detection, and then dispatches an officer to the scene to assist the person in need — resulting in either preventing an accident or saving a life.
CBS LA recently did a three minute TV feature that succinctly captures what LENS is doing with Public Safety Agencies in one of the largest traffic capitols in the world:

Role & Responsibilities
As a People Operations Partner at LENS, you seek transformational change. You do not accept the status quo that accidents are an accepted inevitability, or that they just happen. Instead, you believe when the root cause of an accident can be known in advance, the accident can and should be prevented. You work with fellow Preventers that share this core belief, using LENS to prevent accidents and save lives.
Your responsibilities are:
- Own the day-to-day People infrastructure supporting the LENS team. Run the processes that keep people operations working - onboarding, offboarding, benefits administration, compliance tracking, People record management, and the systems that connect it all.
- Be the first point of contact for team member questions and needs. Respond to People inquiries with care and accuracy, maintaining the trust that comes from being organized, discreet, and reliable.
- Keep People systems current and compliant. Maintain accurate records across Rippling, track compliance requirements (E-Verify, benefits eligibility, managing nuances across multiple states), and flag and resolve issues before they become problems.
- Help build and improve the people processes that will scale with LENS. Document SOPs, identify gaps, and contribute to building a People function that supports a team growing rapidly in size and complexity.
Mindset, Principles, and Skills & Experience
Your mindset is grounded in:
- People operations is critical infrastructure. The systems and processes you build and maintain are what enable every team member to do their best work - a seamless onboarding, a benefits question answered quickly, a compliance deadline met - these are not small things, and they enable the team to focus on what best advances the mission.
- Precision is care. Getting the details exactly right - the right form, the right deadline, the right information routed to the right person - is how you show respect for the team and the mission.
- Adaptability drives evolution. In a fast-moving startup, the playbook is always being re-written. You approach new situations with curiosity and resourcefulness, building repeatable systems as you go.
Principles you share with us are:
- We are well-organized. The more organized our people operations are, the stronger the team's foundation becomes. You maintain systems that anyone could pick up and understand, and you treat documentation as a first-class output.
- Investing in the team is always one of the most impactful ways to advance the mission. Every process you build, every team member you support, and every compliance requirement you meet is an investment in the people who are preventing accidents and saving lives.
- Begin with the end in mind. Before building a new process or system, you identify what great looks like and work backwards to the steps that get there - so what you build is durable from the start.
The Skills & Experience you have are:
- 6+ years of experience in HR, people operations, or a closely related role, ideally in a startup or high-growth environment.
- Hands-on experience with HRIS and payroll systems; familiarity with Rippling strongly preferred.
- Comprehensive understanding of HR compliance regulations, including multi-state employment, benefits administration, I-9/E-Verify, and documentation for onboarding and offboarding.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail: you manage multiple workstreams simultaneously without dropping a thread.
- Clear written and verbal communication; comfortable interfacing with team members at all levels with discretion and professionalism.
- Experience supporting recruiting operations and working within an ATS, ideally Ashby, is a bonus.
The time to accept traffic accidents is ending, and the time to prevent them has begun. This belief is becoming more of an inevitable reality every day. If you want to build the people infrastructure that supports a team on a genuine life-saving mission, this role is for you.
