WHY: The purpose of this role is to drive the adoption of new SDV & VaaT (Vehicle as a Tester) manufacturing requirements across assigned plants & programs.
WHAT: As a SDV/VaaT Process Engineer, your focus will be on optimizing VaaT implementation station-by-station, following the bill of process for each program and plant. You’ll play a key role in shaping plant processes through engineering solutions that support automation and update the SDV electrical bill of
operations.
HOW: By partnering with plant & program teams to turn SDV & VaaT requirements into practical, executable solutions that support implementation and deliver better products to our customers.
Work Arrangement - Onsite
The successful candidate is expected to report to the Warren Tech Center on a full-time basis. This role requires up to 25% of domestic and international travel.
What You’ll Do (Responsibilities):
- Lead the development and adoption of manufacturing requirements to give GM a competitive edge in VaaT implementation.
- Advocate for manufacturing operations to achieve 99.9% eFTQ for VaaT.
- Engineer and validate online test plans for plant-level implementation.
- Apply a “solutioning-left” mindset to challenge norms and revolutionize manufacturing test processes.
- Foster a forward-thinking work culture that embraces change and navigates future organizational and industry challenges.
- Build and nurture strategic relationships across various functions including software, manufacturing, and program management to synergize efforts towards future innovations.
Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications):
- Proven experience with vehicle electrical systems in a manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with End-of-Line (EOL) testing and flashing processes (online/offline).
- Proven experience with the Vehicle Launch Process (Virtual and/or Plant)
- Strong problem-solving skills with a proven track record of resolving complex issues.
- Experience working cross-functionally across diverse teams and organizational levels.
What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience in developing innovative technologies and automation controls.
- Strong knowledge of SDV architecture and Vehicle as a Tester concepts.
- Background in software and services validation.
- Familiarity with vehicle electrical architecture (e.g., ISO 14229, Cybersecurity, Ethernet).
- Experience with GM IT systems (e.g., JIRA, GEPICS, MERS, PRTS, ECM).
- Experience with Teamcenter/TcVIS
