Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Consultant Pulmonologist to join our leading healthcare facility. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive diagnosis, treatment, and management of respiratory diseases and disorders affecting adult patients. This role requires advanced clinical expertise, strong diagnostic abilities, and a commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centered pulmonary care using evidence-based medical practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and manage a wide range of respiratory conditions, including asthma, COPD, interstitial lung diseases, pulmonary infections, sleep-related breathing disorders, and respiratory failure.
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including medical history reviews, physical examinations, and interpretation of diagnostic tests.
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on clinical findings, investigations, and current medical guidelines.
- Perform and interpret pulmonary function tests, imaging studies, and other respiratory assessments.
- Manage complex pulmonary cases and provide long-term care for chronic respiratory conditions.
- Perform specialized respiratory procedures, including bronchoscopy and related diagnostic interventions when required.
- Evaluate and manage patients with sleep disorders, including sleep apnea.
- Provide respiratory care for critically ill patients in collaboration with intensive care teams.
- Monitor treatment response and adjust therapeutic approaches as needed.
- Provide patient education regarding disease management, medication use, lifestyle modifications, and preventive care.
- Collaborate with cardiologists, intensivists, oncologists, allergists, radiologists, physiotherapists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and contribute to comprehensive patient management.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation using electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
- Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, and departmental meetings.
- Mentor junior physicians and contribute to medical education and professional development activities.
- Stay updated with advances in pulmonary medicine, respiratory therapies, and emerging treatment approaches.
- Medical degree (MBBS, MD, or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
- Completion of postgraduate training in Pulmonology, Respiratory Medicine, or Internal Medicine with pulmonary specialization.
- Board Certification, Fellowship, or equivalent specialist qualification in Pulmonology.
- Minimum of 5 years of post-specialty clinical experience as a Consultant Pulmonologist.
- Extensive experience in diagnosing and managing complex respiratory conditions.
- Strong knowledge of respiratory diagnostics, pulmonary function testing, and advanced treatment approaches.
- Experience with bronchoscopy, critical care respiratory management, or sleep medicine is preferred.
- Excellent clinical judgment, diagnostic skills, and patient management abilities.
- Strong communication skills with patients, families, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
