Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Consultant Podiatrist to join our healthcare team. The successful candidate will provide specialized assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and preventive care for patients with conditions affecting the foot, ankle, and lower extremities. The role requires advanced clinical expertise, excellent patient care skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to improve mobility, function, and overall quality of life for patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, diagnose, and manage a wide range of podiatric conditions affecting the foot and ankle.
- Provide comprehensive podiatric care for patients with musculoskeletal, neurological, vascular, and dermatological foot conditions.
- Evaluate and manage diabetic foot complications, including wound care, ulcer prevention, and limb preservation strategies.
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on clinical assessment, diagnostic findings, and patient needs.
- Perform advanced podiatric procedures, including minor surgical interventions, nail and skin treatments, and corrective therapies.
- Manage sports-related foot and ankle injuries, biomechanical disorders, and gait abnormalities.
- Conduct biomechanical assessments and recommend appropriate orthotics, footwear modifications, and rehabilitation plans.
- Provide preventive foot care and patient education to improve long-term foot health.
- Collaborate with orthopedic surgeons, endocrinologists, vascular specialists, physiotherapists, wound care teams, and other healthcare professionals.
- Manage complex cases requiring multidisciplinary intervention.
- Maintain accurate patient records and clinical documentation using electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
- Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement programs, and departmental meetings.
- Support education and training of junior healthcare staff when required.
- Ensure compliance with patient safety, infection prevention, and clinical care standards.
- Bachelor’s degree, Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM), or equivalent qualification in Podiatry.
- Postgraduate training or advanced certification in Podiatric Medicine, Podiatric Surgery, or a related specialty is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in podiatry, with experience in a senior or consultant-level role preferred.
- Strong expertise in diagnosing and treating complex foot and ankle conditions.
- Experience managing diabetic foot care, wound management, and limb preservation is highly desirable.
- Knowledge and experience in biomechanics, orthotics, gait analysis, and rehabilitation.
- Excellent clinical assessment and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills with patients, families, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
