Houlihan Lokey’s Real Estate Valuation and Advisory Services (REVS) team is seeking a Vice President to join its growing India platform. This role will be a fully integrated member of global engagement teams, primarily supporting US-based clients while also contributing to the expansion of India-based mandates and regional collaboration across Asia and the Middle East.
The VP will lead execution of complex valuation assignments across real estate debt, equity, and asset-level engagements, manage and mentor junior professionals, and actively contribute to business development efforts both domestically and in partnership with global teams.
Key Responsibilities
Execution & Technical Leadership
- Lead valuation engagements across a diverse range of real estate asset classes including office, retail, industrial, hospitality, and alternative sectors
- Oversee and review complex financial models (Excel/ARGUS) for real estate assets, portfolios, and structured investments.
- Conduct and supervise detailed market and financial research, including:
Supply-demand analysis
- Comparable sales and lease benchmarking
- Investment and return metrics
- Analyze property-level financials, lease agreements, and capital structures
- Guide valuation methodologies including DCF, comparable transactions, and income capitalization approaches
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, and high quality of all deliverables
Client Management & Delivery
- Serve as a key point of contact for clients, particularly US-based private equity, institutional investors, and corporates
- Lead client discussions including financial due diligence sessions and valuation reviews
- Present valuation conclusions and insights clearly to internal stakeholders and clients
- Manage timelines, deliverables, and engagement economics
Team Leadership & Development
- Manage, mentor, and train Analysts and Associates
- Review workstreams and provide constructive feedback to ensure professional development
- Drive a high-performance culture aligned with Houlihan Lokey’s entrepreneurial environment
Business Development & Growth (India + Cross-Border)
- Support business development initiatives in India, including identifying opportunities with domestic developers, funds, and corporates
- Collaborate with global teams across the US, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Dubai to originate and execute cross-border mandates
- Contribute to pitch materials, client proposals, and thought leadership
- Build and maintain relationships with market participants, including brokers, developers, and investors
Data & Market Intelligence
- Develop deep expertise in subscription data sources such as CoStar, Capital IQ, CBRE-EA, RCA, and other regional databases
- Leverage data to generate differentiated market insights and support valuation conclusions
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate, Finance, Business Administration, or related field (with coursework in finance, accounting, economics)
- ~7–9 years of real estate valuation/advisory experience
- Strong experience in real estate financial analysis across asset classes and geographies (US experience strongly preferred)
- Proven expertise in valuation methodologies and comparable analysis
- Advanced financial modelling skills (Excel and ARGUS)
- Strong understanding of commercial lease structures and real estate investment frameworks
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certifications such as CFA, MRICS, MAI, CCIM, CPA, or equivalent
- Experience working on cross-border assignments (US/Europe/APAC/Middle East)
- Prior experience in client-facing roles and business development
- Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification is a plus
- Strong project management and leadership capabilities
- Willingness to travel (domestic and international)
