Job Summary
The Memory and Imagination Lab is seeking a full-time research coordinator to join a team investigating behavioural and psychophysiological (e.g., pupilometry, skin conductance, heart rate variability) measures of emotional memory in healthy adults using naturalistic paradigms. The position will perform technical and administrative tasks of moderate complexity, involving subject recruitment, project management, standardizing experimental protocols, data management, and multi-site data sharing. In-person presence on UBC campus will be required most days of the week.
Organizational Status
The research coordinator will work closely with the principal investigator and research team to complete the described tasks.
Work Performed
● Assists with the preparation of correspondence, documents, and reports, including ethics submissions to UBC BREB.
● Maintain and file forms and documents, including consent forms and master subject logs.
● Assist with the screening, recruiting, and obtaining consent of study participants, including participants with exposure to trauma. Perform telephone or in-person interviews to gather data, as needed. Schedule and/or call subjects for appointments.
● Order and maintain equipment and supplies.
● Assist in data collection and cleaning, including pupilometry, psychophysiological, and behavioural data.
● Assist in scoring memories using a standardized protocol (i.e., the Autobiographical Interview).
● Handle specialized equipment including wearables during data collection.

● Coordinates and maintain multi-site data sharing arrangements.

Consequence of Error/Judgement
Supervised directly by the principal investigator or graduate student who will interact with the research coordinator on an almost daily basis. Although some independent judgement is required, close supervision reduces the likelihood of critical errors. Errors might affect the efficiency of the lab; however, given the direct line of reporting this is not likely.
Supervision Received
Supervised by the principal investigator or graduate student who provides instruction and guidance.
Supervision Given
May provide guidance to junior research assistants with less experience.
Minimum Qualifications

- Demonstrates a commitment to enhancing one’s own awareness, knowledge, and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Preferred Qualifications
● College degree in a relevant field–such as cognitive science, psychology, linguistics, neuroscience, or computer science–and relevant research experience.
● Basic understanding of research design and analysis.
● Fundamental statistical knowledge about how to analyze data.
● Strong interpersonal skills for working with human study participants and the research team.
● Ability and motivation to complete tasks efficiently and independently.
● Familiarity with statistical programs and computer languages, including R, Python, Java and/or Linux.
● Familiarity with wearable technologies, eye-tracking, and/or BioPac systems.
● Experience with autobiographical interview administration and scoring.
