AMD is seeking a Senior General Ledger/Fixed Asset Accountant in Penang, Malaysia to join their Record to Report team. This role involves maintaining financial records, supporting month-end/year-end close, general ledger accounting, fixed assets, lease accounting, reconciliations, and driving process improvements. The ideal candidate will have 4-7+ years of relevant experience, a strong understanding of US GAAP, and proficiency with SAP and Blackline.

THE ROLE:
The Record to Report, or R2R, Accountant is responsible for maintaining the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of the company’s financial records. This role supports end-to-end R2R activities, including month-end and year-end close, general ledger accounting, fixed assets, lease accounting, balance sheet reconciliations, audit support, internal controls, reporting, and process improvement.
This role requires a strong accounting foundation, analytical thinking, sound judgment, and the ability to work with urgency in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will partner with Corporate Accounting, Tax, IT, business teams, and other cross-functional stakeholders to ensure financial results are accurate, compliant, and meaningful to the business.
The ideal candidate is not just a transaction processor, but someone who understands the story behind the numbers, challenges inconsistencies, identifies risks, and contributes ideas to improve processes, controls and automation.
THE PERSON:
You are a proactive, detail-oriented, and results-driven accounting professional with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. You are comfortable working with tight deadlines, changing priorities, and ambiguity while maintaining a high level of accuracy and control.
You have a strong sense of ownership and urgency. You prioritize, act fast, and resolve issues efficiently. At the same time, you do not compromise on quality, compliance, or proper documentation.
You make informed decisions by using accounting knowledge, business insight, materiality, and risk assessment. You can identify unusual trends, investigate variances, challenge questionable balances, and escalate matters when needed.
You are also curious about automation, process improvement, and business intelligence. You actively look for ways to simplify work, reduce manual effort, improve data quality, and strengthen financial reporting.
