At Johnson Electric, our Tax team supports a complex international manufacturing business operating across multiple European countries. From VAT reporting and compliance to process improvements, automation projects, and collaboration with finance teams across the region, VAT plays a critical role in ensuring our business operates efficiently and compliantly.
We are currently looking for a VAT Compliance Specialist to join our Tax team in our Hungarian finance hub. If you enjoy combining tax expertise with process improvement, international collaboration, and hands-on problem solving, this role offers excellent exposure to a broad range of indirect tax topics in a truly global environment.
The position is based in Hatvan, Hungary, with a hybrid working model.
Your responsibilities will be to:
- Ensure VAT, EC sales and Intrastat transactional compliance and reporting
- Prepare VAT returns filling in various jurisdictions in a timely manner
- Support automation and improvements of accounting / booking processes from the perspective of tax requirements
- Collaborate with other teams to ensure that VAT related master data is managed properly
- Assist in implementation of VAT related legal requirements
- Create and update the invoice settings in the ERP system
- Complete the VAT balance sheet account reconciliations and other VAT related accounting tasks
- Identify and improve efficiency in indirect tax compliance tasks
- Assist internal and external stakeholders in daily VAT matters
- Assist ad hoc tax audits in various European countries
Our requirements:
- Degree in Economics, Finance, Accounting or a related field
- 2–4 years of experience in Finance
- Solid knowledge of VAT compliance rules and related accounting aspects
- Full professional proficiency in English – other foreign language is an advantage
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong Excel skills (functions, pivot tables, data analysis)
- Ownership mindset with a proactive, execution-focused approach
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural, international environment
- High attention to detail and accuracy
