Business M&A Analyst

Second Foundation is a global energy trading company with around 450 employees across locations in Prague HQ (CZ), Zug (CH), Berlin (DE), Charlotte (USA), and Tokyo (JP). We specialize in power market trading and in the integration and optimization of renewable energy and battery storage systems. In parallel, we are actively expanding our own asset base, with a primary focus on battery storage.

We are looking for a Business Analyst to join our Prague office. You will evaluate M&A opportunities in the energy and battery-storage sectors, build financial models, prepare investment materials, and support deal execution. Your work will help expand and strengthen our portfolio across Europe and other key markets.

What you would work on? 

• Analyse markets, competitors, regulation and technology across the energy and battery-storage sectors.
• Source and evaluate M&A opportunities, including BESS deals, and support due diligence through to deal close.
• Build financial models, including DCF, IRR, NPV and investment cases.
• Translate models, filings and internal data into concise, decision-ready materials.
• Manage analytical deliverables, flag data quality issues and suggest improvements to reporting workflows.
• Work with internal teams, external stakeholders and portfolio companies to support optimisation, growth and post-acquisition integration.

What makes you a great candidate?  

• Degree in business, finance or a STEM field.
• Experience in M&A, investment analysis, corporate finance, financial modelling or business analysis.
• Strong financial-modelling skills, including DCF, IRR, NPV and scenario analysis.
• Solid data-handling, analysis and visualisation skills; Python or automation experience is a plus.
• Advanced command of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
• Detail-focused, proactive and able to turn complex findings into clear recommendations.
• Comfortable managing several analytical deliverables independently and collaborating across teams.
