About the role

Christchurch Engine Centre is seeking a skilled and motivated Maintenance Tradesperson to provide facilities and maintenance support across all business operations. This is a hands-on role that involves ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of plant, equipment, and site facilities. This is a full-time permanent position, based in Christchurch.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform general fitting, repair, and maintenance activities
• Coordinate and oversee contractors working on site
• Maintain equipment, plant, buildings, and associated infrastructure
• Support site housekeeping and maintain a safe working environment
• Manage permit-to-work activities, including confined space entry and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) processes
• Carry out equipment inspections and ensure compliance with safety standards
• Conduct electrical testing in accordance with NZS 3760 requirements

About You

We are looking for a reliable, adaptable, and proactive individual with a strong commitment to safety and quality. The ideal candidate will:

• Hold a NZ Level 4 National Certificate in Mechanical and be capable of undertaking a broad range of maintenance tasks
• Relevant work experience in facilities, plant, and equipment maintenance
• Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Be self-motivated, organised, and proactive in managing workloads and priorities
• Work effectively both independently and as part of a team
• Have practical experience in maintenance, electrical testing, permit-to-work systems, and working at heights
• Maintain a positive, can-do attitude and a strong focus on continuous improvement
